IMSA statement following Mid-Ohio... Given the rapidly deteriorating conditions in the closing stages of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón race at Mid-Ohio that ultimately resulted in the red flagging of the race, the Race Director requested that the Stewards review the application of the minimum drive time requirements, originally set at 30 laps per the Supplementary Regulations
The Stewards determined that, due to the unique circumstances, aligning the minimum requirement to time instead of laps would be appropriate. As such, a minimum drive time requirement of 40 minutes, calculated to correlate with the manner in which the original lap count was established, will be applied. Driver Championship Points for Mid-Ohio shall be calculated based on the Stewards’ determination and all drivers otherwise eligible shall be awarded points
