Everyone knows how bad today’s bumpers are and, as Andy Rooney put it “…they don’t protect anything except the income of automobile parts departments”. So we decided to do something about it.
Bumpers have been a long standing battle between auto insurers and automakers with consumers stuck in the middle. This product combines the strength of your receiver hitch with a patented energy absorbing, (either steel or rubber) crash tested, bumper and hitch combination that not only pulls trailers to 6,000 lbs but has been crash tested to 5 mph without damaging your vehicle.
The average full size pickup truck will sustain over $2,000 damage from a 5 mph impact as shown by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (crash videos on our web site). Today, no one can afford to make $1,000 to $2,000 claims anymore which is the reason twice as many accidents go unreported and we drive around with dented vehicles.
Since the average person pulls a trailer less than 1% of the time, this product can protect your family, vehicle and insurance the other 99% of the time when you’re not towing.
Here’s a link from the Under-Ride Network describing how our product works: http://www.underridenetwork.org/NewSafetyTechnology/SuperBumper/tabid/127/Default.aspx
The rear end collision is the most frequent accident on the highway, 75% of them are less than 10 mph and most are direct hits. This product will eliminate most, if not all of the damage from 75% of all rear end collisions. It is made in the USA and has a lifetime crash warranty – If it bends or breaks from a rear-end collision, we’ll replace it absolutely FREE.
As the towing season is winding down, the protective season is just getting started. Snow, ice, sleet, bumper to bumper traffic and lots of inattentive and uninsured drivers (25% of them in California alone) make this product earn its keep. When you’re not towing, you can fill your receiver hitch with all kinds of junk - but this product could save your life!
Our web site http://www.superbumper.com contains crash videos, photos and over 30 downloadable reports with tons of information on bumpers, whiplash, under-ride, grill guards, backup alarms etc.

GPS Is Hot This Year
Written by William Herman Jr.
At Autofocus 2007 at SEMA GPS systems were featured. For those that do not know what GPS is here is a basic description
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.
GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map.
For a less technical explanation it is that little box you see in all the television commercials with maps on it that speaks to you and tells you your going in the wrong direction.
While at Autofocus 2007 I took the time to talk to many of the members of the press that were there about the GPS systems that were on display and then went and talked to those demonstrating their GPS Units.
There was a thought that everything was alike and nothing was alike. Explained simply that when you do nothing but look at a GPS box one tends to look like another. As they say though the devil is in the details. Each unit on display does what each other does in the basic mode then each one does something totally unique to separate itself from the other units.
There are base units all the way up to the very expensive units that are crammed with everything that one could ever want to have with them while on a trip. You have internet connection capability, picture taking capability, video taking ,MP3 use and basically all but the kitchen sink capabilities available if that is what you want.
(One useful tip I got for all considering purchasing a GPS System was to look at what you already had available to you then decide what features you wanted in GPS System.)
Also what you should look into is subscription services to keep to up on what road conditions are like where your driving. All the equipment in the world you can put into your car is is no good if you can't get to where your going because a road has been blocked by a accident or road work. A service will keep you informed so you can avoid these delays.
Look forward to Black Friday sales on GPS systems because this Christmas they are going to be very hot.
Below is material on systems that were available at AutoFocus 2007. Take some time to go over them before you go looking for a GPS for your vehicle. It never hurts to go into a store armed with knowledge. It makes it allot easier for those working in the store to help you into the system that is best for you.

PANASONIC LAUNCHES STRADA PORTABLE NAVIGATION DEVICE
First Portable GPS Follows Successful Launch of In-Dash System Earlier This Year
Panasonic today announced the launch of its first portable navigation device (PND) for the U.S. market. The Panasonic Strada CN-GP50U sports a sleek, slim design and boasts a 5-inch touch panel display for vivid viewing and optimum ease of use.
“On the heels of a successful debut of our in-dash navigation system in Spring 2007, we are proud to bring to market our first portable device,” said Rob Lopez, national marketing manager for Panasonic’s Mobile Electronics Division. “The Strada CN-GP50U PND delivers everything consumers are looking for in a cutting edge portable device – one of the widest screens on the market, sleek styling for added portability, an SD Memory Card port for swift downloading and a highly friendly user interface.
“Strada is already a best-seller in Japan,” added Lopez. “Based upon its overseas success, we are looking to the U.S. debut of our portable device to further solidify Panasonic’s place as a major force in the mobile navigation industry.”
The power of Panasonic’s technological expertise in the automotive and display categories has brought a wealth of benefits to the Strada PND, including ease of use, high performance, digital networking, voice command and GPS Assist – an electronic compass to compensate when GPS reception is interrupted, as in a tunnel.
The Strada CN-GP50U is the ultimate travel companion, providing quick and easy access to maps and 1.8 million searchable Points of Interest in 51 categories, such as gas stations, airports, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, ATMs and historic landmarks. Its generously large 5-inch (diagonal) touch panel LCD screen is easy to read but compact, slim and easy to carry. It
features an easy-to-use Graphic User Interface (GUI) with contrasting icon colors and textures for extra clarity. The pre-loaded NAVTEQ® mapping software provides map data for the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico, plus detailed maps of 86 U.S. cities. Users can easily upgrade their software using an SD Memory Card or USB port. There’s even a voice guidance feature, which can be activated in several languages.
The state of the art display also serves as a handy digital camera photo viewer or slide show viewer. The Picture Viewer function can also be used to customize the opening screen image to a favorite snapshot (jpg or bmp) stored on an SD Memory Card. The display automatically adjusts for day or night viewing.
The Strada CN-GP50U also offers important safety and convenience features, such as Bluetooth* capability for hands-free cell phone conversation. The Voice Command function allows drivers to set a destination verbally while keeping both hands on the wheel. Automatic dialing can be easily achieved by simply downloading one’s cell phone address book. When driving a route for the first time, Lane Assist helps avoid last-minute lane changes using voice guidance and by highlighting the correct lane in orange. There’s even an icon and warning tone to alert the driver when the speed limit is exceeded. The solid mounting bracket features a sturdy ratchet to assure a secure hold on dashboard or windshield.
The Panasonic Strada CN-GP50U Portable Navigation Device will be available in December 2007 with an SRP of $499.95. For more information on Strada go to:

The feature-packed SANYO Easy Street NVM-4070 offers a bright and large 4-inch, 16:9 widescreen LCD touch screen display for intuitive, easy to use navigation. The compact system employs advanced text-to-speech, turn-by-turn navigation which provides audible directions, announcing street names upon approach. Pre-installed maps contain complete U.S. data (including Alaska and Hawaii), plus Canada and Puerto Rico. Over 1.8 million points of interest are included, which provide convenient information for locating airports, hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues along your route.
The NVM-4070 is equipped to receive data from the Traffic Message Channel (TMC), which reports real-time information on accidents, road construction and other incidents that can affect traffic flow. With TMC activated, the NVM-4070 graphically displays traffic incidents as icons on the navigation map*. It’s easy to enjoy wireless connectivity and hands-free calling when the NVM-4070 is used with a Bluetooth-equipped mobile phone. One touch dials any of up to 400 phone numbers stored in the NVM-4070’s database. Hands-free conversations use the unit’s built-in phone speaker system, which eliminates fumbling with a mobile phone or a traditional earpiece.
Whether placing outgoing calls or receiving them, the NVM-4070 can access your Bluetooth equipped cell phone even if the phone is buried in the bottom of a purse, stuck in the driver’s pocket or located virtually anywhere within the car. You can even wirelessly transfer data between your Bluetooth enabled device and the NVM-4070. Send text messages (SMS), plus transfer photos, contact and phonebook data.
Users can enjoy MP3 and WMA music playback even while the unit is being used for navigation. A convenient memory card slot lets you store multimedia files on SD memory cards (memory card not included). A built-in FM transmitter allows you to play music stored on an SD memory card or within the unit’s internal memory through an open FM channel on your car’s stereo system.

Sony Takes Wraps Off New Speakers, Amps and a Sub at SEMA
-- Sony is providing quality mobile audio components with three new speakers, three new amplifiers and a new subwoofer here at the Specialty Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) annual trade show.
The company unveiled its new GTX series speakers, which are the perfect complement to the GT series head units. Three new models -- XS-GTX1620S (about 6.5-inches in diameter), XS-GTX6930 (about 6 x 9 inches in height and width) and XS-GTX1640 (about 6.5-inches in diameter) -- feature sleek designs and dynamic sound quality.
For improved sound imaging in the GTX design, the XS-GTX1620S two-way component speakers provide 260 watts peak power (60 watts RMS). They have a highly oriented polyolefine (HOP) cone woofer, which offers rich and solid bass as well as superb sound. The speakers offer a good option for factory replacement for newer vehicles with tweeters located in the A-pillar behind the side-view mirrors. The separate .75-inch tweeters provide versatility in installation to optimize a vehicle's soundstage, and can be surface or flush mounted. For better sound, the 2-way passive crossovers direct the appropriate frequencies to the tweeters for clear highs and better bass response from the woofers.
Both the XS-GTX6930 three-way speakers and the XS-GTX1640 4-way speakers offer an HOP woofer. The XS-GTX6930 has 400 watts peak power (100 RMS) and offers powerful sound at a great price.
To get the best results when installing speakers, installers should match the power source level of RMS or continuous watts to the high end of the speaker's range in RMS. The XS-GTX1640 has 300 watts peak power (75 RMS) and has a high density layered diaphragm (HDLD).
These step-up models in the GT series are offer a practical way to replace factory speakers in new vehicles. Pricing starts at about $120 for the XS-GTX6930 and XS-GTX1640 speakers, and about $150 for the XS-GTX1620S speakers. The GT Series speakers will be available in January.
Sony has also introduced new amplifiers. The entry-level 2.1 channel amplifier, (model XM-ZR1252) has a sporty new design with optimized heat sinks for better heat radiation. It also adds blue illumination. The amplifier's 800 watts maximum power output produces 125 watts x 2 at 4ohm or 340 watts x 1 at 4ohm. It also has a low pass filter (LPF) that only allows low frequencies to pass through for subwoofer applications.
The XM-GTR2022 and XM-GTR6001 amplifiers have a sleek, smooth design. The more affordable 2.1 channel amp (model XM-GTR2022) provides 200 x 2 watts at 4ohm, 1,200 watts of maximum power output, and blue illumination.
The higher end XM-GTR6001 mono class D amplifier has active thermal control, which prevents it from overheating and shutting down so the music keeps playing. It also has a dynamic distortion suppressor, which eliminates unwanted sounds that sometimes occur when maximum volume levels are pushed. This amplifier has 900 x 1 watts at 2 ohms, 1,300 watts maximum power output, and a blue illumination. The XM-GTR6001, XM-GTR2022 and XM-ZR1252 units cost about $280, $200 and $150, respectively, and will be available in January.
Besides delivering low frequency bass, the new entry-level XS-L120P5A 12-inch subwoofer has Sony's classic pentagonal shaped polypropylene (P5) cone design, which is an improvement over a traditional round cone. The P5 has some unique design features that offer superior rigidity to reproduce solid and tight bass. It has a 4ohm single voice coil at 1,000 watts peak power (300 watts RMS) for deep bass. The sub will be available in January for about $80.

Sony Hits Its Stride With In-Car Connectivity at SEMA Trade Show
'Experience Center' Features 2008 Xplod(R) Car and Marine Line-up and Demonstrates Bluetooth(R), HD Radio(TM) and Multi-channel Technologies
Sony's mobile electronics showroom at the Specialty Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) annual trade show is featuring new Xplod products that bring to life major mobile electronics connectivity trends.
These trends include made-for-iPod head units that charge the device and provide full menu control. Attendees can also see how to make hands-free phone call capabilities and stream music wirelessly with Bluetooth-enabled head units. They can hear higher-quality sounding HD Radio broadcasts and 5.1-Channel surround sound for the car.
"Connectivity is the key trend this year," said Mike Kahn, director of mobile electronics in the Digital Imaging and Audio Division at Sony Electronics. "Consumers want to listen to their music their way. We are providing head units that offer those options at very attractive prices."
Plus, attendees can view for the first time at SEMA Sony's in-car and marine head units that make connectivity a snap. For drivers on a budget who want to listen to their digital music player, satellite radio or HD Radio(TM) on the road, the company recently unveiled four very connectable Xplod(R) in-dash head units.
For about $140, the new top-of-the-line CD receiver (model CDX-GT520) provides the most options for connectivity in the car. One of the most economical models is the CDX-GT420IP CD receiver for about $130, which comes with an iPod control interface. The CDX-GT320 unit costs about $100 and provides iPod, HD Radio and satellite radio compatibility. At about $80, the CDX-GT120 CD receiver has front auxiliary input, one pre-out and a detachable faceplate with a blue 13-segment LED screen.
The models (CDX-GT320 at about $100 and the CDX-GT520 at around $140) require additional equipment for satellite radio, HD Radio and iPod compatibility. They work with an iPod adapter (model XA-120IP for about $50) that charges the device and controls it from the head unit. Satellite radio requires a subscription.
For music lovers spending time on the water, Sony launched its first splash-proof, IPx5-compliant, CD receiver with iPod-direct control functionality (model CDX-H905IP). The marine head unit and three new models CDX-M10, CDX-M30 and CDX-M50IP are UV resistant CD receivers. The CDX-M50IP unit has iPod-direct control functionality. The CDX-H905IP, CDX-M30 and CDX-M50IP models offer ways to connect to digital music players and HD Radio and satellite radio. They range from about $130 to $350 and will be available in February.
Car Candy
Sony Xplod head units, speakers, subs and amps are installed inside five fully laced vehicles, including Sony's feature build, the Corpala.
"The Corpala has the body of an Impala, but is built to perform like a Corvette," Kahn said. "We chose this as our centerpiece vehicle because it's an extraordinary build inside and out."
Corpala owner Christian Prusia incorporated Sony's XAV-W1 multi-channel audio/video head unit, as well as Sony's iPod adapter, two video screens, front and rear speakers, three amps and two subs into the 1963 two-door hardtop Impala.
The Corpala project was built around a simple concept: Accentuate the lines and styling of a classic muscle car (e.g. '63 Impala), while incorporating the most modern performance drivetrain imaginable. The result is a stunning reinvention of the classic muscle car that rivals the handling and performance of GM's prized Z06 Corvette.
Including the Corpala, Sony has five vehicles featured in its showcase. Lawrence Weiner designed a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 as the prototype for limited edition production in conjunction with "Mr. Norm," the legendary high-performance Dodge dealer from Chicago.
Showing his passion for exotic cars, John Wargo built his fantasy vehicle, a 2008 Lamborghini Superleggera Replica. He installed an XAV-W1 video head unit, six amps, front, rear and trunk monitors, multiple subs and speakers. He also mildly modified a 2004 BMW 770Li luxury sedan by adding three Sony amps, front monitors, two subs and three speakers.
A 2008 GMC Acadia built by Jim Lewis features Sony's XAV-W1 video head unit, the HD Radio tuner, iPod adapter, subs, amps and speakers. Sony also has a 23-foot Centurion ski boat built by Steve Yiu to display its marine line-up including head units, subs, amps, remote controls and speakers.
Try It Before You Buy It
The Xplod Experience Center (located in booth 11066) lets attendees use Sony's multi-channel, HD Radio and Bluetooth-enabled mobile electronics products. The multi-channel display features the MEX-DV2000 and XAV-W1 head units that provide outstanding picture and sound quality, easy connectivity to MP3 players, and personalization options.
In the HD Radio section, listeners can hear the improved sound quality that HD Radio provides, while using Sony's HD Radio adapter (model XT-100HD) with CDX-GT series head unit.
In the Bluetooth section, visitors can learn about the convenience of making hands-free calls from mobile phones and listening to music streaming from digital music players through the company's MEX-BT2500 and MEX-BT5000 head units.
Play Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Sony Electronics and Sony Computer Entertainment of America have collaborated on this year's Sony SEMA booth to provide a compelling entertainment experience for SEMA attendees. For the first time in North America, auto enthusiasts will be able to play Gran Turismo(TM) 5 Prologue, available exclusively for PLAYSTATION(R)3 (PS3(TM)), on one of four kiosks at the booth.
Additionally, Sony will be projecting Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, running in stunning full HD at 1080p and 60 fps (frames per second). Games are being projected on four 10 x 20 foot screens using Sony's SXRD 4K digital projector. The video is being played back at a resolution of 3840 x 2160, which is four times the resolution of the most advanced high-definition televisions used in home theater systems.

Toyota Unveils All-New, 10th Generation Corolla At 2007 SEMA Show
-- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the all-new 10th generation Corolla sedan at a press conference today at the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.
"Nearly 40 years after the Corolla was introduced to American drivers, the 2009 Corolla will continue to offer the quality and value for which the brand has long been known," said Tim Morrison, Toyota Division corporate marketing manager. "In style and substance, the tenth-generation Corolla will have a strong, new identity, all its own. It will be far more than merely the next-generation Corolla and will position itself perfectly above our entry-level Yaris and below our sales leader, the Camry."
Originally launched in Japan in 1966, Corolla first arrived in America in 1968 to instant success. For nearly four decades, Corolla has been synonymous with Toyota quality, style and value, earning a distinction as one of the most trusted cars in America. Over that span more than 30 million Corollas have been sold worldwide, making it one of the best-selling cars of all time. The new Corolla remains true to the brand's role as a subcompact sedan, with dimensions similar to the model it replaces. But it offers an all-new body with a lean, stylish shape, and it delivers increased interior and luggage room, more power, more economical engines and an all-new chassis and suspension.
The all-new Corolla will come in five grades -- Standard, LE, XLE, the sporty S, and the performance-driven XRS.
The Corolla's wide, low profile was developed by Toyota Design in collaboration with styling studios in Turin, Italy. Its foundation was set by the search for a lower, sportier shape than that of the previous Corolla. That search drove the decision to move the bottom of the A-pillar forward and the bottom of the C-pillar aft to increase the angle of the window glass and to improve the Corolla's aerodynamic performance.
The standard body kit on S and XRS models helps to modify aerodynamics and enhance the Corolla's sporty look -- these include a front underbody spoiler, fog lamps, rocker moldings, upper and lower rear spoilers, and for improved air management under the car, engine undercovers.
The 2009 Corolla's interior is sporty and distinctive -- with roomy-feeling comfort. While Corolla maintains the same headroom, legroom and shoulder room as the previous model, it feels larger, thanks to a design that enhances comfort and improves utility, usability and storage.
A variety of useable, easy-to-reach storage spaces add convenience and usability to the 2009 Corolla's interior. These include center console side pockets, a storage box above the usual glove box, front and rear door pockets that can safely hold 20-ounce bottles, a console box with a large-capacity main tray and a smaller accessory tray, an overhead console useful for storage of sunglasses or garage-door openers, and a rear-seat center armrest with an integral drink holder.
Map lights that illuminate independently are supplied for both driver and front passenger. And to aid in ingress and egress, retractable handgrips are supplied above each door opening.
The Standard, LE and XLE models will be equipped with an all-new 1.8-liter engine. The 16-valve, DOHC four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence), produces 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Corolla models equipped with the 1.8-liter engine will achieve preliminary EPA city/highway fuel economy ratings of 27/35 mpg.
A five-speed manual transmission is standard with the 1.8-liter engine, and a four-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) will also be available.
For those who crave just a bit more horsepower and torque, there is the 2.4-liter engine. This engine is completely redesigned for use in the new Corolla XRS grade. The 16-valve DOHC engine with VVT-i produces 158 hp at 6,000 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Preliminary EPA city/highway fuel economy for the 2.4-liter engine is 22/30 mpg.
The 2.4-liter engine will be paired with standard five-speed manual and optional five-speed automatic transmissions.
Safety features on the all-new Corolla include standard driver and front passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and two-row side curtain airbags.
Front seats employ active headrests as standard equipment. When the vehicle is struck from the rear, a cable-actuated mechanism in the active headrest moves the headrest upward and forward to limit the movement of the seat occupant's head.
Toyota's Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is standard on all grades of the Corolla and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRAC) and an off switch is available.
The all-new Corolla will be loaded with a comprehensive list of standard performance and convenience features. All models will be equipped with a heavy duty rear window defogger, AM/FM/CD audio with four speakers that is also XM(R) satellite capable, auxiliary audio input jack, air conditioning with air filter, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seats, and much more.
The sporty S grade will feature standard P205/55R16 tires with full wheel covers, color-keyed front and rear underbody spoilers, fog lamps, front sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, black headlamp housing, chrome exhaust tip and AM/FM/CD XM(R) capable audio with six speakers.
In addition to S grade features, the XRS grade adds a rear deck spoiler, P215/45 R17 tires with alloy wheels, sport strut tower brace, VSC with TRAC and an off switch, XRS scuff plate, leather-trimmed shift lever and knob, cruise control and an interior chrome accent.
An impressive list of optional comfort and utility features will be available to further enhance the Corolla driving experience such as AM/FM/six-disc CD changer with MP3/WMA playback capability, satellite radio (subscription required) and six speakers, a power package that includes power windows and door locks. Additional options on select grades include JBL Audio system with AM/FM six-disc CD changer with eight speakers and Bluetooth(R), Navigation system with AM/FM CD with MP3/WMA playback capability and XM(R) satellite radio with XM NavTraffic(R) capable with six speakers, leather-trimmed seats and shift knob, tilt and slide moonroof, VSC with TRAC and cut-off switch.
The all-new Corolla will reach Toyota dealerships in February 2008.

Scion Partners With RIDEMAKERZ to Build Customizable xBs for Kids of All Ages
-- Scion today announced its partnership with RIDEMAKERZ(TM), an innovative new toy car customization retailer inspired by Build-A-Bear Workshop(R). The Scion RIDE, based on the new xB urban utility vehicle and the latest model in the RIDEMAKERZ lineup, was unveiled at the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. The partnership and product will please tuners, kids and parents alike.
"Scion is iconic for the ways in which our customers make customization happen, and we and RIDEMAKERZ both look at cars as canvases for self-expression. We now have the opportunity to take this experience to kids, as well," said Lisa Materazzo, Scion national marketing and communications manager. "SEMA represents the customization and originality that is possible within the automobile industry and Scion feels it is the perfect showground to celebrate our new venture with RIDEMAKERZ."
The two brands are complementary in their approach, with the "driver" in charge of uniquely customizing their "ride." RIDEMAKERZ invites guests, or "Customizers(TM)," into the ultimate car-customizing shop where they travel through seven zones to create a one-of-a-kind RIDE. The zones, entitled CHOOZE, SONICIZE, MOTORIZE, MOBILIZE, CUSTOMIZE, PERSONALIZE and CRUIZE(TM), are used to select body style, paint job, sounds, engines, accessories, and decals. Between them all, RIDEMAKERZ estimates there are more than 649 million possible combinations, not including individual decal placement.
"We're thrilled to partner with Scion to help bring the car-customizing movement to the next generation," said Larry Andreini, ZEO (CEO) and founder of RIDEMAKERZ. "The process of building a kid-sized Scion and then personalizing it is pure fun. It sparks creativity and 'engineuity' and lets kids, in particular, create their own cool, customized version of an extremely popular real life car. There's truly no experience like it."
The Scion RIDE is available in Cannonball Black, Comet Blue and Wasabi Green and measures approximately 12 inches long. Once the approximately 1:18 scale xB models are tricked out, Customizers create a personalized license plate and receive their own Certificate of Title, which includes a unique RIDE Identification Number (RIN). This number can be used to view and interact with their RIDE online at
http://www.ridemakerz.com/. The pint-sized xB ranges in price from $22 for the Cannonball Black and Comet Blue versions to $25 for the Wasabi Green. Custom accessories range in price from $2.50 for grille guards and hood scoops to $15 for a deluxe "Muscle Kit" that includes a blown engine, spoiler, side pipes, muffler tips and roof vents. Radio-control can be added for $25.SEMA attendees will be able to view a large-scale model of the Scion xB special edition RIDE in the Scion booth located in the Central Hall, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, as well as enter a raffle for a chance to win a special edition RIDEMAKERZ xB designed and signed by Troy Sumitomo, from Five Axis, a renowned customization and fabrication shop in Huntington Beach, Calif. Similar to his "one off," life size creations, these one-of-a-kind mini models are a work of art.
Kids of all ages can build the new Scion RIDE on
http://www.ridemakerz.com/ (with a Z) and at Shops located at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. In November, RIDEMAKERZ will open two additional Shops at the Spotsylvania Towne Center in Fredericksburg, Va. and at Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis, Ind.The RIDEMAKERZ experience is specifically designed to provide choice, unleash creativity, foster confidence, encourage cooperation, and instill a sense of community, which also are hallmarks of the Scion brand. Scion and RIDEMAKERZ appeal to the young, and young at heart, tapping into the innate desire to build and create, generating not only pride in affiliation, but also pride and ownership of one's own creation.

Roland Revolutionizes Automotive Window Tinting With New Design Software
SEMA Show: Booth # 11764
LAKE FOREST, CA October 12, 2007 Roland Advanced Solutions Division (ASD) has introduced Film Designs Basic for Roland – the industry’s first design software compatible with all brands of window tint film. Loaded with powerful design features, the software opens up the entire window film market to everyone from dealerships to restyling professionals.
Until now, all available window database programs were offered by film manufacturers that restricted customers to using only their film and/or offered limited design capability. Customers were forced to either accept these terms or cut patterns by hand.
“Mated with a Roland computerized cutter, Film Designs Basic makes it easy to run a successful window tinting business,” said Gerald Hiller, Roland ASD managing director. “It offers a flexible business solution with outstanding graphics editing features and access to nearly every vehicle window film pattern dating back to the early 1990s.”
Film Designs Basic offers full access to more than 2200 different window film pattern kits for more than a thousand different vehicles. The software also offers access to a vast database of urethane paint protection kits. Customers get the first 10 pattern kits with their purchase, and when more kits are needed, they can purchase them 10 at a time. Customers get unlimited use of the kits, which lets them reuse patterns over and over without the per-cut fee associated with other programs on the market.
Film Designs Basic for Roland makes it possible to add designs, logos and text into window film patterns. With several unique editing tools, this powerful design software can even create signs, banners and decals. It imports both AI and EPS files and can save changes directly to a local computer.

Developed by Film Designs LLC, Film Designs Basic for Roland has a list price of $995 with an annual license fee of $295. Additional patterns can be hand selected for $300 per group of 10 kits.
FilmCAD™
Window tinters and urethane installers all use their computers to custom cut jobs to meet their customers’ exact needs. In addition to film, they use everything from graphics programs to window template databases to digital cutters. Roland has trademarked the term FilmCAD™ to describe all of these important film industry technologies.
FilmCAD™ solutions are used for automotive window tinting and urethane protection, as well as commercial and residential applications. Roland has provided the first bundled FilmCAD™ Solution with its GX Pro digital cutter and Film Designs Basic software. Roland Academy training classes are also available to help jobbers achieve perfect installation.
“With Film Designs Basic, we have raised the bar on what to expect in a FilmCAD™ tinting solution,” said Hiller. “And it comes at the lowest price in the industry.”
Film Designs LLC.
Film Designs specializes in state-of-the-art computerized cutting solutions. The company was founded on a proven graphics software program for the window tinting market and now offers three independent programs that work in unison. Film Designs, Vinyl Designs and Film Designs Basic for Roland are the most flexible and feature rich FilmCAD™ products on the market. For more information, visit the Web site at http://www.filmvinyldesigns.com.

NHRA FOUNDER WALLY PARKS, 1913-2007 Patriarch of Drag Racing Dies at Age 94
GLENDORA, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2007) – Wally Parks, the driving force behind the formation of NHRA, has died at the age of 94. It was Parks’ vision, goals and unconditional commitment to the need for speed and side-by-side racing in a safer, more controlled environment that created what is today the world's largest motorsports governing body.
"Today is a sad day in the world of NHRA and the sport of drag racing," said Tom Compton, president of NHRA. "Words simply can't describe the immeasurable impact Wally has had on the sport he created and the millions of people's lives he touched along the way. The name Wally Parks is synonymous with drag racing, and his vision and direction will guide NHRA for years to come. Everyone in drag racing, and the industries formed to service the sport, will forever be indebted to Wally, his vision, his focus and his desire to create, build and grow NHRA."
“Wally spent his lifetime doing what he loved,” said Dallas Gardner, chairman of the NHRA board of directors. “He marked the path and led the way for this incredible industry and the sport of drag racing. Wally was NHRA, and through his dream came a path to follow with lofty goals and ambition. He put the people in place and trusted in them. He has not abandoned us. He has left us with a road map that he knows will be followed.”
Parks, who founded NHRA in 1951, received countless awards in the motorsports world and played a pivotal role in the establishment of an entire industry devoted to speed and automotive aftermarket parts and accessories that today is a multibillion-dollar business. Yet Parks never implied that he did it all himself. His pride and joy, and where he spent most of his time in recent years while still serving on NHRA's board of directors, was The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by Automobile Club of Southern California at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.
Details regarding arrangements and planned events will be released at a later date.

At the premier show for the automotive aftermarket industry, Rojone Pty Ltd will release the next generation vehicle protection system, EziTrak® MICRO Vehicle Security and Tracking System. This new release conforms to FCC Part 15.101 and has been specifically designed as a more compact unit, using less power but offering customers increased features and greater suitability for all vehicles.
SEMA is held each year in Las Vegas, and Australian designed & manufactured EziTrak® MICRO will be on show for the first time to the 100,000 plus visitors from over 100 countries.
EziTrak® MICRO is an Australian designed and manufactured monitoring, protection and GPS tracking system giving car and vehicle owners personalized, self-monitoring of their vehicle. This early warning anti-theft device is interactive and has no monthly or annual monitoring fees.
The EziTrak® MICRO is half the size of previous models, measuring only 3.15“ (L) x 2.4” (W) x 1.38” (H). This makes it ideal for use in motorbikes plus plant machinery. The outer casing has a low sheen black finish, which makes it even harder for thieves to locate, and the unit comes complete with an internal vibration sensor.
The EziTrak® MICRO is specifically designed to have a very low power consumption; in deep sleep mode, this is as low as 1 milliamp. The unit comes standard with an internal trickle-charged backup NIMH battery.
The internal phone module in the EziTrak® MICRO is the latest available and is compatible with all phone networks, so EziTrak® MICRO can be used with any GSM system in the world.
The EziTrak® MICRO has an internal Black Box Recorder logging speed, position, time and date from 1-255 hours, as often as once per second. Particularly of use to fleet operators, the EziTrak® MICRO can now email the contents of the black box to an email address where the information can be downloaded and played back on a PC moving map display.
Vehicle owners can now control the sensitivity of the vibration sensor; this will reduce false alarms. Once set, the EziTrak® MICRO will need to sense movement for, say, 20 continuous seconds before it calls the vehicle owner to advise of a disturbance.
With EziTrak® MICRO, you are completely in control of the security of your car, with commands protected by your personal PIN code. Interaction with EziTrak® MICRO is typically done by selecting menu options over the phone (mobile phone or landline). This menu allows you to remotely immobilize the engine, lock and unlock the doors, check on your vehicle anytime, and obtain a status report including location to within 6 metres.
EziTrak® MICRO offers security, control, GPS tracking and emergency notification for a single one-off cost to personal vehicle owners and fleet owners.
EziTrak® MICRO will be on display at Rojone Pty Ltd’s stand at SEMA – booth number 10957, LVCC North Hall. Products manufactured by Rojone include;
| EziTrak® for cars, plant equipment and vehicles | |
| BikeBANDIT® for motorbikes | |
| BoatBANDIT® for boats and vessels | |
