An all-star ensemble cast comes together in “Valentine’s Day,” which follows

the intertwining storylines of a diverse group of Los Angelenos as they navigate their

way through romance and heartbreak over the course of one Valentine’s Day.

“Valentine’s Day. It comes every year

whether you like it or not.”

If you are happily in love, Valentine’s Day is a day of hearts and flowers,

romance and sentiment. If you are among those who are unlucky in love, it is just

another day.

Director Garry Marshall, who has successfully captured the many facets of love

in some of the screen’s biggest romantic comedy hits, offers, “Some people think

Valentine’s Day is the best thing and others try to block it out. It means different things

to different people. The other holidays are all clearer,” he adds with his trademark

deadpan delivery, noting, “Christmas, we decorate a tree, you give me a present, we

sing nice songs, go home, go to bed. New Year’s Eve, you drink, you kiss at 12 o’clock,

sing Auld Lang Syne and cry, go home, go to bed. That’s simple. Got it. Arbor

Day…not the biggest holiday, but getting bigger because we’re all ‘going green.’ But

Valentine’s Day is vague. It’s a hard holiday to define because love is so hard to define

and that’s why it makes for a good story. Why not do a romantic comedy about the day

we’re all concentrated on romance, and that’s ‘Valentine’s Day.’”

Seen through the eyes of a multigenerational cast of characters, “Valentine’s

Day” threads its way through a variety of relationships—from first dates to longtime

commitments, from young crushes to old flames, and from perpetual singles to

unrequited loves. To tell the interconnecting stories, the film brings together one of the

largest all-star ensembles ever assembled in one film, including three Garry Marshall

veterans, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway and Hector Elizondo, as well as Jessica Alba,

Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx,

Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, George

Lopez, Shirley MacLaine, Emma Roberts, and Taylor Swift.

Producer Mike Karz remarks, “We felt very fortunate to have such an

extraordinary cast. But the fact that we were able to have this level of actors in the film

is really a tribute to Garry Marshall and his reputation and skill. He is such a great

leader and a brilliant comedian, which has been proven over and over again for

decades. He is a genuinely funny guy who just knows how to deliver a joke. But, more

importantly, he knows how to deliver a story.”

“In order for any film to get made, the planets have to align,” producer Wayne

Rice adds. “Certainly a lot of planets aligned for us to make this movie with such a

remarkable roster of talent.”

Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway both count “Valentine’s Day” as their third

collaboration with Marshall, including their breakthrough roles in “Pretty Woman” and

“The Princess Diaries,” respectively. They agree that there are many reasons actors

relish working with the famed director. “I’ve gotten to work on some wonderful films, but

there’s nothing like a Garry Marshall movie,” says Hathaway. “He’s generous and

sensitive and fun, and he’s a director you can trust. He’s a passionate filmmaker; he’s

invested in every take and he works with you to craft a beautiful performance.”

Roberts observes, “All Garry wants to do is tell a great story and make people

laugh, and he’s masterful at it.”

The chance to work with the director was also a major attraction for the actors

teaming with him for the first time. “Garry Marshall is a craftsman, and the opportunity to

work with someone who can elevate your game and you can learn from—you don’t pass

those opportunities up,” states Ashton Kutcher.

Bradley Cooper adds, “When I heard Garry would be at the helm, I jumped in

with both feet. He’s the perfect choice to direct this kind of movie.”

“He is the king of romantic comedy,” Jennifer Garner attests, “so it was a nobrainer

for everyone in the cast. We all wanted to be in there.”

Chart-topping recording artist Taylor Swift, who makes her film acting debut in

“Valentine’s Day,” says, “It’s amazing to be a part of something with so many names I’ve

admired, but my favorite name has to be Garry Marshall. I was so excited to get to work

with him. He’s charming and funny, and he obviously knows how to make a great

movie. And he took the time and effort to incorporate our mutual lucky number—13—

into every single one of my scenes, which was awesome. I’ll never forget that.”

In fact, when asked what attracted them to the project, all the actors had one

answer in common: Garry Marshall. However, before any of the cast was in place, what

first drew Marshall to the film was the original screenplay, written by Katherine Fugate.

He recalls, “Mike Karz and Wayne Rice told me they had a movie they wanted to make

with me. They said, ‘It’s a love story; you do those things.’ I read the script and liked it

and said, ‘Let’s go.’”

Fugate says that she created the interwoven stories in the screenplay “to show

how love was approached from different angles and different generations—from the

unjaded 10-year-old boy with his first crush, to the thirtysomethings dealing with their

relationship, or lack thereof, all the way to the older married couple looking back at the

journey of love they have taken together. Love also takes on many different faces that

go beyond romance, but at the end of the day, love always brings us back to what is

most important in life.”

Screenwriting partners Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, who recently

demonstrated their knack for ensemble comedy with the hit “He’s Just Not That Into

You,” helped develop the story. “When we met with Garry and the producers, we were

all interested in having the film cover a lot of perspectives, especially in capturing the

different feelings people have about this holiday,” says Silverstein.

Bringing another age group into the already multigenerational story, Kohn and

Silverstein also recognized the importance of including a teenage romantic angle.

“When you’re a teenager, there are a lot of firsts when it comes to love and romance,”

Kohn says, “but it’s not something you typically think of with regard to Valentine’s Day.

We wanted to make sure that the film had something that could speak to almost

anybody.”

Marshall states, “‘Valentine’s Day’ covers various types of relationships, and I

think they all work very well because all our actors were so good. The most important

thing was finding the right chemistry. Nobody can define it, but the audience knows

when it’s there. The great actors and actresses can create it…and we certainly had a

great cast.”

“It’s a day when your love life is put on display.

Where there’s always a chance for romance…”

“Valentine’s Day” starts out on a romantic note between Reed Bennett, played by

Ashton Kutcher, and his girlfriend Morley, played by Jessica Alba. Morley awakes as

Reed is attempting to place a diamond ring on her finger, only to find her clutching her

Blackberry. “I don’t know if he’s hopeless, but he is definitely a romantic,” says Ashton

Kutcher, who plays the role of Reed.

Reed is the owner of Siena Bouquet, a flower shop and café, which is the eye of

the storm on the day devoted to expressions of love. Rice explains, “It’s no accident that

Reed works at a flower shop, which is a common denominator on Valentine’s Day, the

holiday for giving flowers and candy. It was the ideal epicenter for our story.”

“A florist knows everything,” Kutcher asserts. “He knows who’s dating; he knows

who’s sick; he knows who’s cheating… He’s got the inside scoop because of the notes

and messages that are sent with the flowers.”

Marshall affirms, “Florists can really get into people’s love lives, so they have to

have a code of confidentiality, like a doctor. But in some cases, it’s difficult to stick to the

code; it’s just too personal. That’s part of what Reed’s dilemma is.”

Reed begins this particular Valentine’s Day focused on his own love life, and

when Morley accepts his proposal, he’s ecstatic. Alba describes her character as “much

more buttoned-down and conservative than Reed, so I guess it’s an example of how

opposites attract. She’s completely taken by surprise by Reed’s proposal. She is

entirely focused on her career, so she might be a little hesitant about making that kind of

commitment, even though she says yes.”

In fact, Morley’s acceptance comes as a surprise to Reed’s closest friends,

beginning with Alphonso, who was expecting to be consoling Reed instead of

congratulating him. George Lopez appears as Alphonso, who is Reed’s right-hand man

at Siena Bouquet and is also the voice of reason in his personal life. “Alphonso is

happily married and more grounded,” says Lopez, “so Reed looks to him for advice, but

he doesn’t really need Alphonso to give him the answers. He knows what he should do.

In life, we sometimes ask other people for their opinions, but if they’re really good

friends, they won’t tell you exactly what to do. They will just lead you on the right path,

which you’re probably already on.”

News of Reed’s engagement is also met with initial skepticism by his best friend,

Julia Fitzpatrick, played by Jennifer Garner. But Julia would rather concentrate on the

wonderful new man in her own life. “Julia has not had a boyfriend in a long time and she

is finally in love,” says Garner. “She wakes up on Valentine’s Day feeling like the

happiest person in the world, but as the day goes on, her heart goes through some

definite ups and downs. This film celebrates the day devoted to love—both winning and

losing, and having and not having.”

Patrick Dempsey, who plays the new love of Julia’s life, Dr. Harrison Copeland,

counters, “I think Valentine’s Day is actually a very unromantic day because you can’t

really force romance. It just has to happen naturally. There is so much pressure to

make that day special and have a good time, it’s virtually impossible to have one.”

One of Julia’s fifth graders is Edison, played by Bryce Robinson. The 10-yearold

boy has a serious crush on someone in the classroom, so while his friends are

exchanging homemade valentines, Edison is thinking of even better ways to impress the

girl of his dreams.

Edison lives with his grandparents, Estelle and Edgar, played by veteran stars

Shirley MacLaine and Hector Elizondo. Unlike her onscreen husband, MacLaine had

never before worked with Garry Marshall, although they had known each other for years.

“You can’t understand much of anything he’s saying,” she teases, “but if you’re on a

good emotional and mental track with him, you know where he’s going.”

“It’s a process to figure out what he’s saying, but somehow it all works out,” says

Elizondo, a regular Garry Marshall cast member, who has been seen in all of the

director’s features to date. “Whether I’m available or not, he hunts me down,” he laughs.

“I always have to have Hector,” Marshall confirms simply.

Estelle and Edgar have been together for more than 50 years and have

celebrated many Valentine’s Days, but this particular one brings some surprising

revelations that test their marriage. MacLaine observes, “All love affairs are full of

promises and betrayals and all kinds of human drama, and these subjects are broached

in the movie. It’s a funny romantic comedy, but I think it also has something to say about

love.”

“I also think the inter-generational braiding of stories makes it quite interesting,”

says Elizondo. “In some ways, we see things very differently, but some things remain

the same at any age.”

The difference between the generations is evident when Edison’s teenage

babysitter, Grace, seeks relationship advice from his grandparents. Emma Roberts

plays Grace, who has decided to take her romance with her boyfriend, Alex (Carter

Jenkins), to the next level. “She is trying to have the perfect Valentine’s Day with her

boyfriend, which includes the two of them losing their virginity,” Roberts confides.

“Throughout the day, they keep trying to meet up, but things just keep going wrong.

Alex is doing everything he can think of to be very sweet and romantic, but his attempts

keep failing. He definitely gets an A for effort, though. It just goes to show that

Valentine’s Day can cause all kinds of problems for people, but I think everyone should

just have fun. It doesn’t have to be a couples’ thing; it can just be about family and

friends…as long as you’re with people you love.”

Taylor Swift appears as Grace’s high school classmate and friend Felicia, who is

not short on advice for her best friend. “If I had to give advice to my girlfriends about

Valentine’s Day, it would be that if you have a special someone, make a big deal out of

the day,” Swift offers. “But if you don’t, don’t psych yourself out; just think of it like any

other day.”

Felicia has a special someone in her boyfriend, Willy, played by Taylor Lautner.

“Willy and Felicia are being interviewed for a news segment about young love on

Valentine’s Day, and Felicia gets Willy to show off his athletic skills on the track,” says

Lautner of Willy’s ill-fated hurdles run. “It was a lot of fun, but my favorite part was

getting to do a complete face plant.”

Over Marshall’s objections, Lautner did his own stunt—tripping over the final

hurdle and landing flat on his face. “He was so brave,” Marshall recounts. “I told him

we’d get somebody to fall for him, and he said, ‘No, I can fall.’ I said, ‘You’re a star. If

you fall and get hurt, they’ll yell at me.’ But he said, ‘Let me try it.’ I said, ‘All right, don’t

hurt yourself.’ I told the stunt coordinator, ‘The kid’s gonna do it himself…get another

camera,’” he laughs. “We had three cameras on him, and he did the stunt beautifully.

We didn’t need a double. He was terrific.”

Felicia and Willy are being interviewed by local L.A. TV station KVLA, looking for

the “man/woman-on-the-street” perspective on Valentine’s Day.

News producer Susan, played by Kathy Bates, had initially assigned sports

reporter Kelvin Johnson to the story, despite his protests. Jamie Foxx plays Kelvin, who

resents being temporarily sidelined from the sports desk to do what he considers a “fluff”

story. “Kelvin is not really a fan of Valentine’s Day,” Foxx states. “His boss wants him to

get out there and find happy, romantic stories—that old school ‘Will you be my

valentine?’ nonsense. But he wants to be taken more seriously as a sports journalist.

He’s just waiting for his break—that one big interview.”

The scoop Kelvin wants is the major sports story of the day: the future of star

professional quarterback Sean Jackson, whose career is in doubt after his team lost in

the playoffs. Jackson is played by Eric Dane, who notes, “If you are 25 and lose in the

playoffs, the attitude is, ‘We’ll get them next season.’ If you are 35 and lose, they want

you to retire. So Jackson is in the twilight of his career, although I think he’s still

somewhat relevant as an athlete. The big question is whether or not he’s going to hang

it up or continue playing.”

Jessica Biel appears as Sean Jackson’s publicist, Kara Monahan, who has spent

the day fielding questions about her star client’s intentions, while also stressing over her

annual “I Hate Valentine’s Day” party, held for people, like herself, who are perennially

single on a holiday designed for couples. “Kara has a special relationship with

Valentine’s Day: she detests it,” Biel laughs. “What I love about Kara is that, on the one

hand, she’s a very together professional, but she’s also very passionate and emotional.

I think Valentine’s Day can make people a little crazy. There’s that pressure of: ‘Are you

going on a date? Did somebody send you candy or flowers? Did you get a card?’ And

if you didn’t, it’s supposedly a bad thing. I think that’s silly because being on your own

and independent is fantastic.”

Screenwriter Katherine Fugate reveals that Kara’s anti-Valentine’s Day party was

one somewhat autobiographical element of her script. “I actually threw an annual “I Hate

Valentine's Day” dinner because I didn’t like the idea of people being alone on a holiday

about love and companionship. One year, two people even met there and fell in love. It

was a positive way to look at the holiday and remember that, despite it all, love is still

pretty wonderful.”

Valentine’s Day notwithstanding, the one character who has no time for love is

Sean Jackson’s agent, Paula Thomas, a no-nonsense businesswoman, played by

Queen Latifah. “Paula is smart and confident,” Latifah says, “and I love that when she

walks down the hallway at the agency people are a little afraid of her. She’s the top dog,

and I’m sure she didn’t get there by being nice.”

The receptionist at the agency is Liz Curran, played by Anne Hathaway, who

reveals that Liz makes her living on the phone in more ways than one. “She moonlights

as a phone sex operator,” the actress offers. “But Liz is a girl with real financial worries,

so she sees it as a means to an end. She certainly doesn’t want to do it forever, but, for

now, she has to do it until something better comes along. I think Liz is one of those

women who are very open to what the universe has to offer, even when it seems kind of

unusual.”

Nevertheless, Liz’s alternative source of income does create some problems with

her new boyfriend, Jason, who is an agent-in-training, working in the mailroom at a big

talent agency. Hathaway explains, “When we first meet Liz and Jason, they have just

consummated their relationship on the eve of Valentine’s Day, but then Liz very quickly

runs off, leaving Jason a bit confused. Jason is a guy from Muncie, Indiana, who never

imagines that the girl he might be falling in love with would be making a living in that

way.”

Jason is played by Topher Grace, who affirms, “Jason is one of those guys who

has an agenda for his life; he has high expectations for himself, and subsequently his

girlfriend, so Liz’s part-time job would come as a shock to him. What I relate to about

Jason and Liz is that they are only about two weeks into their relationship when

Valentine’s Day rolls around, which has personally happened to me. It’s a celebration of

love and commitment, so Jason is confused about how much he needs to do. But he’s

smart enough to know he doesn’t want to mess it up.”

While most of the film’s characters are grounded in Los Angeles, two of them are

on a plane, en route to the city. Julia Roberts appears as U.S. Army Captain Kate

Hazeltine, who is on a short leave and is flying fourteen hours in order to make an

important rendezvous, although she never says with whom. “One of the things I like

about the part of Kate is that there is a little mystery about her, and I think where her

story ends up is very sweet and truthful.”

Bradley Cooper plays Kate’s seatmate on the plane, Holden, who provides a

shoulder for her to sleep on, not to mention a good ear. “Well, either you spend fourteen

hours feeling like you made a friend or you spend fourteen hours trying to avoid making

eye contact with the person next to you,” Roberts quips.

“Valentine’s Day” reunites Cooper and Roberts, who previously worked together

in the play “Three Days of Rain” on Broadway. “We did eight shows a week, so I got to

know her pretty well,” Cooper says. “It definitely helped to have that prior relationship

coming into this film because we spent almost all of our time sitting side-by-side, so it’s

pretty close quarters. But we really had a great time.”

“It’s L.A. Nobody RSVPs.”

“Valentine’s Day” was shot entirely in and around Los Angeles, with locations

including downtown L.A., Malibu, Hollywood, Venice, Burbank, Beverly Hills, and the

San Fernando Valley. Some filming was also accomplished on soundstages on the

Warner Bros. lot.

“I’m originally from New York, but I’ve been here a long time, so this was my love

letter to Los Angeles,” says Marshall. For certain scenes, the filmmaker chose some of

the city’s recognizable landmarks to serve as backdrops, including the magnificent

Disney Concert Hall and the colorful Los Angeles Flower Mart, both located downtown;

famed Hollywood Boulevard and the Hollywood sign; and the romantic Venice Canals.

A significant scene between Shirley MacLaine and Hector Elizondo was filmed at

the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which is the final resting place of many screen

legends. However, the cemetery is also known for its popular outdoor screenings of

classic films. Executive producer Diana Pokorny remarks, “Even though it’s a cemetery

at night, it’s not a scary, creepy place at all. It’s actually a very beautiful, romantic place

to see some great old movies in the dark.”

In “Valentine’s Day,” the film being screened stars Estelle in her Hollywood

heyday as a young, up-and-coming actress. True film buffs will recognize the scenes as

being from 1958’s “Hot Spell,” starring a young Shirley MacLaine.

One notable location will be familiar to fans of Garry Marshall movies: the Beverly

Wilshire Hotel, which has often been referenced as “the ‘Pretty Woman’ hotel” because

of its importance in that memorable film. For “Pretty Woman,” Marshall’s team had put a

bus stop bench in front of the hotel for a scene between Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

Returning to the hotel nearly two decades later for “Valentine’s Day,” Marshall wanted to

film at the same spot, but “there is no bus stop there; we made it up,” he recalls.

“There’s no bench, nothing. So we figured we made it up once, we can make it up

again.” As something of an homage to his earlier film, the director had the bus stop

bench reinstated in the exact same spot for a pivotal scene between Anne Hathaway

and Topher Grace.

One of the film’s central sets is Reed’s flower shop Siena Bouquet. Production

designer Albert Brenner and his team took an empty storefront in Burbank and

transformed it into the combination flower and coffee shop.

The “Valentine’s Day” production was among the very first in the film industry to

“go green” in a conscious effort to lessen its environmental impact. Pokorny was largely

responsible for spearheading the project’s green initiative, which extended from the

director and cast to the entire crew. It encompassed virtually every physical aspect of

production, including the use of reusable set pieces, solar-powered lighting, hybrid or

clean diesel vehicles, and biodegradable plates and utensils at craft services. In

addition, every member of the cast and crew was given his or her own reusable stainless

steel water bottle, eliminating the need for the thousands of plastic water bottles usually

used over the course of production.

“Every department was very proactive about coming back to us with ideas on

what they could do, and we also had the strong backing of Warner Bros., which was key.

We met with (Warner Bros. Pictures sustainable production manager) Jon Romano

about how to make the entire production more environmentally responsible,” says

Pokorny. “It’s not only about making a difference now; it’s about creating technologies

and methods that will continue to be improved upon for the next movie, and so on. It

was exciting for everyone involved in the film because they could see the tangible

differences they can make.”

Mike Karz adds, “Everyone embraced it willingly, and we all found that it was

actually not difficult to have a green set. And it’s just going to get easier and easier,

which is a great sign for things to come.”

“There are a lot of things wrong with our environment, so to ‘go green’ seemed to

me to be a very good thing. It’s not that big an effort; if we could do it, others can do it,”

Marshall states.

“It can be confusing. It can be complicated.

But at the end of the day, it’s all about love.”

In keeping with the film’s title, “Valentine’s Day” takes place over the course of

only one day. Karz says that the timeframe adds to the pressures that are inherent to

the day. “Valentine’s Day is just so many hours, and there are expectations on both

sides of the equation. If you go on a date, is it the right restaurant? If you buy a present,

is it nice enough or is that putting too much pressure on the relationship? If I don’t buy a

gift, what does that say? It’s a great holiday to celebrate, but there are certainly a lot of

expectations that come with it, which is what we explore in this movie.”

Marshall concludes, “We hope this movie inspires some people to take a chance

on a relationship and maybe even fall in love. If you’re in love it can be a wonderful

thing; it’s really nice when somebody needs you. Valentine’s Day is a good day to give it

a shot. But whether you’re in a relationship or not, Valentine’s Day can be stressful, so

get ready.”

ABOUT THE CAST

JESSICA ALBA (Morley Clarkson) is known throughout the world for her role of

Sue Storm, one of the title superheroes in the “Fantastic Four” films, based on the

popular Marvel Comics

She first gained international recognition at the age of 19 on the small screen as

the lead character in James Cameron’s “Dark Angel,” the filmmaker’s sole television

venture. In the series’ first season, she was nominated for a Golden Globe and a

People’s Choice Award and won the TV Guide Award for Breakout Star of the Year and

the Teen Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress. Two years later, she segued into studio

features as a leading lady in the 2003 release “Honey.”

In 2005, Alba starred in the underwater action adventure “Into the Blue,” the

provocative and critically acclaimed hit film “Sin City,” directed by Robert Rodriguez and

Frank Miller, and the first “Fantastic Four” film, which became a worldwide box office

success. Alba reprised the role of Sue Storm in “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver

Surfer,” which was released in Summer 2007 and became another global hit. Her

subsequent film credits include the psychological thriller “Awake,” the romantic comedy

“Good Luck Chuck,” the psychological horror film “The Eye,” and the comedy “The Love

Guru,” with Mike Myers and Justin Timberlake.

Alba has a wide range of films upcoming in 2010, including Michael

comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You”; the Allen Hughes-directed segment of the

Cooper next stars in the actioner “The A-Team,” alongside Liam Neeson and

ERIC DANE (Sean Jackson) stars on the hit television drama series “Grey’s

Anatomy” as Dr. Mark Sloan, a.k.a. McSteamy. Dane was also recently seen on the big

screen in “Marley & Me,” with Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson.

Upcoming, Dane stars in the dramatic musical “Burlesque,” with Stanley Tucci,

Cher and Christina Aguilera. The film is slated for release in November 2010. His

Dempsey currently stars as Dr. Derek Shepherd on the wildly popular ABC series

“Grey’s Anatomy.” His work on the series has earned him two Golden Globe

nominations and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award® nomination for Best Actor, and

two People’s Choice Awards. He also shared in a SAG Award® win for Drama Series

HECTOR ELIZONDO (Edgar) has a successful career spanning 40 years and

encompassing film, television, theater and radio.

Elizondo was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an American Comedy

Award for his performance in Garry Marshall’s mega-hit “Pretty Woman.” He has

worked with Marshall in all of the director’s films, beginning with “Young Doctors in Love”

and going on to include “The Flamingo Kid,” “Nothing in Common,” “Runaway Bride,”

“The Princess Diaries” and “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.” Elizondo’s

many additional film credits include “Love in the Time of Cholera,” “Music Within,”

Elizondo won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for

his portrayal of Dr. Phillip Watters on CBS’s “Chicago Hope.” During his six seasons on

category, and a Screen Actors Guild Award® nomination for Outstanding Performance by

a Male Actor in a Drama Series. He also received an Emmy Award nomination, for Best

JAMIE FOXX (Kelvin Moore) won an Academy Award® for Best Actor in 2005 for

his portrayal of the legendary Ray Charles in the Taylor Hackford-directed biopic “Ray.”

Foxx also won a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award®, a BAFTA

Award, and an NAACP Image Award, as well as numerous critics association awards,

and shared in a SAG Award® nomination received by the film’s ensemble cast.

Also in 2005, Foxx garnered Oscar®, Golden Globe Award, SAG Award®, BAFTA

Award, and Image Award nominations, in the Best Supporting Actor category, for his

work in Michael Mann’s dramatic thriller “Collateral,” in which he starred with Tom

Cruise. That same year, Foxx also earned Golden Globe Award and SAG Award®

Foxx’s big-screen break came in 1999 when Oliver Stone cast him as a star

quarterback in “Any Given Sunday.” In 2001, he co-starred with Will Smith in Michael

Mann’s acclaimed biopic “Ali.” His additional film credits include Michael Mann’s “Miami

Vice,” with Colin Farrell; Sam Mendes’ Gulf War drama “Jarhead,” with Jake Gyllenhaal;

Foxx first came to fame as a comedian. After spending time on the comedy

launched his own series, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” which was one of the top-rated shows

In addition to his acting success, Foxx has also achieved a thriving music career.

JENNIFER GARNER (Julia Fitzpatrick) won a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors

Guild (SAG) Award® and two People’s Choice Awards for her work on the drama series

“Alias.” Additionally, over the course of the show’s five-season run, Garner earned four

Emmy Award nominations, three additional Golden Globe nominations and another SAG

Award® nomination for her portrayal of CIA double agent Sydney Bristow.

Garner recently starred in the feature film comedy “The Invention of Lying,”

opposite Ricky Gervais, who also co-directed the film; the romantic comedy hit “Ghosts

of Girlfriends Past,” opposite Matthew McConaughey; and the award-winning

TOPHER GRACE (Jason) has seamlessly transitioned to the big screen from

opposite Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Grace starred with Dennis Quaid and

TAYLOR LAUTNER (Willy) is a breakout star for his roles in the “Twilight”

movies and is already considered among Hollywood’s next generation of leading men.

In 2010, Lautner will also be seen in the third installment to the “Twilight” series,

“Eclipse,” reprising the role of Jacob Black. The much-anticipated film will be released

on June 30, 2010.

In 2009, Lautner starred in “New Moon,” the sequel to the box office sensation

“Twilight,” and the second installment of the franchise. In the film, directed by Chris

into the late night arena, headlining and executive producing the TBS talk show “Lopez

Tonight.” He is perhaps still best known for his groundbreaking hit sitcom “George

Lopez,” which he also co-created, wrote and produced. The show ran for six seasons

on ABC and remains a huge success in syndication. In addition, Lopez also starred and

SHIRLEY MACLAINE (Estelle) is a true screen legend whose illustrious career

encompasses more than 50 feature films and is highlighted by an Academy Award® and

five additional Oscar® nominations, an Emmy Award and five additional Emmy

nominations, seven Golden Globe Awards – including the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime

Achievement Award – and the title of international best-selling author.

She most recently received her eighteenth Golden Globe Award nomination, as

well as a Screen Actors Guild Award® nomination, for her performance in the title role of

MacLaine made her professional debut dancing in the 1950s Broadway revival of

Memoir.” Two years later, she was Oscar®-nominated for Best Actress for her starring

role in “The Turning Point.” MacLaine won the Best Actress Academy Award® and a

Golden Globe Award for her work in the 1983 drama “Terms of Endearment.” She

received a Golden Globe Award in 1989 for her performance in “Madame Sousatzka,”

EMMA ROBERTS (Grace) recently starred in the hit family comedy “Hotel for

Dogs,” with Don Cheadle, and the independent film “Lymelife,” starring Alec Baldwin,

which premiered at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and also screened at the

2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Her upcoming film projects include Joel Schumacher’s “Twelve,” which just

premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival; Dustin Lance Black’s “What’s Wrong with

Roberts starred as the title teenaged sleuth in the 2007 mystery adventure

top-selling digital artist in music history, she has had singles top both the Country and

Pop charts. She released her eponymous debut album in 2006, after signing a

publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music at age 14. Her quintuple-platinum sophomore

release, Fearless, was the best-selling album in any music genre in both 2008 and 2009.

With sales topping 13 million, Swift currently holds the Billboard all-genre records for the

longest charting album of this century and for the most Top 20 debuts in a calendar year,

as well as for the largest overall airplay audience for a country-based act. A Grammy

Award nominee for Best New Artist in 2008, she is currently nominated for eight 2010

Grammy Awards.

In 2009, Swift became the youngest artist and only the seventh female act in the

43-year history of the Country Music Association (CMA) to be awarded the CMA Award

for Entertainer of the Year. She also won 2009 CMA Awards for Album of the Year,

GARRY MARSHALL (Director) is one of Hollywood’s most respected writers,

producers and directors of television, film and theater. He has also helped launch the

careers of many film and television stars, including “Valentine’s Day” cast members Julia

Roberts and Anne Hathaway.

Marshall has directed a number of memorable box office hits, including the

classic romantic comedy “Pretty Woman,” starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. His

long list of film directing credits also includes “The Flamingo Kid,” starring Matt Dillon,

which Marshall also co-wrote; “Nothing in Common,” teaming Tom Hanks and Jackie

Gleason; “Overboard,” starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell; “Beaches,” starring Bette

Midler and Barbara Hershey; “Frankie & Johnny,” pairing Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino;

“The Other Sister,” starring Diane Keaton, which he also co-wrote; “Runaway Bride,”

which reunited Marshall with Gere and Roberts; “The Princess Diaries” and “The

A Bronx native, Marshall began his career in television. He went on to create

and executive produce some of the longest-running and most celebrated sitcoms in

American television history, including “Happy Days,” “Laverne & Shirley,” “The Odd

Couple” and “Mork & Mindy.”

Marshall is also known for his work as an actor. Some of his notable film roles

include the casino owner in “Lost in America”; the head of the network in “Soapdish”;

baseball team owner Mr. Harvey in “A League of Their Own,” directed by his sister,

Penny Marshall; Mr. Gold in “The Twilight of the Golds,” with Faye Dunaway; and Irwin

in his son’s directorial debut, “Keeping Up with the Steins.” He has also made cameo

appearances in a number of his own films and has guest starred on numerous television

series.

In 1997, Marshall, together with his daughter Kathleen, followed his dream by

building the Falcon Theatre, a 130-seat live theatre space in Burbank, California. The

theatre has flourished since its opening. In 2005, Marshall directed his first opera,

Jacques Offenbach’s Grand Duchess, starring Frederica von Stade, which opened the

season for the Los Angeles Opera. In 2008, he directed Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore

(The Elixir of Love) for the San Antonio Opera.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Marshall has been the recipient of such

prestigious awards as the American Comedy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award and

the Publicists Guild Motion Picture Showmanship Award for Film and Television. In

1995, he was voted the Valentine Davies Award winner by the Writers Guild of America.

In November 1997, Marshall was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and

Sciences Television Academy Hall of Fame. He was honored in 2002 by Washington,

DC’s National Italian American Foundation.

Adams Publishing released Marshall’s autobiography Wake Me When It’s Funny,

which he wrote with his daughter Lori in 1995.

MIKE KARZ (Producer) has over 20 years’ experience as a successful film and

television producer, television writer, and studio executive. Karz’s next release is the

action comedy “Killers,” starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl under the direction

of Robert Luketic, slated for release in June 2010. He will also be re-teaming with Garry

Marshall later this year on the family comedy “Blended.” Karz has a number of projects

in development, including “Honeymoon with Harry,” written by Oscar® winner Paul

Haggis; “Say Uncle,” to star Zach Galifianakis; and “Fratboy,” to be directed by David

Dobkin.

Karz’s earlier producing credits include “Sorority Row,” whose cast collectively

won the Female Stars of Tomorrow Award at the 2009 ShoWest convention; “Good Luck

Chuck,” starring Dane Cook and Jessica Alba; “First Daughter”; “Malibu’s Most Wanted”;

and “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” which was the recipient of a Special Certificate of

Recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For television, he

also co-created and executive produced the WB’s long-running television series “The

Jamie Kennedy Experiment.”

Prior to becoming a producer, Karz was an executive at Orion Pictures, TriStar

Pictures, and Mandeville Films. As an executive, he focused on the family market with

such projects as “Rudy” and “The 3 Ninja Kids,” and was an early proponent of

developing the classic cartoon series “George of the Jungle” into a feature.

While working as an executive at a Disney-based production company, Karz saw

an opportunity to produce family films for “The Wonderful World of Disney,” which was

being revitalized and introduced to a new generation of television viewers. Karz secured

an overall production deal for himself and, under the Karz Entertainment banner,

produced many of the series’ most high-profile projects, including “Toothless,” the first

original movie for the division; “Geppetto,” Disney’s first original television musical with

music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and the recipient of four Emmy nominations;

“Model Behavior,” starring Justin Timberlake in his movie debut; and “My Date with the

President’s Daughter.”

WAYNE RICE (Producer) has worked as both a writer and producer on a range

of major studio releases and independent features. He developed and produced the hit

comedy “Dude, Where’s My Car,” which launched the film careers of Ashton Kutcher

and Seann William Scott; produced the comedy “Lost & Found”; and served as an

executive producer on “Chasing Liberty,” starring Mandy Moore.

In the independent world, Rice wrote and produced “Only You” starring Helen

Hunt and Andrew McCarthy, and co-wrote and produced the critically acclaimed cult film

“Suicide Kings,” starring Christopher Walken and Dennis Leary. He also produced “The

Runner,” starring John Goodman and Courtney Cox.

In addition, Rice recently launched Capacity Pictures. Under the Capacity

Banner, he produced “Finding Amanda,” directed by Peter Tolan and starring Matthew

Broderick and Brittany Snow, and “House Broken,” starring Danny DeVito under the

direction of Sam Harper.

KATHERINE FUGATE (Screenplay/Story) created and executive produced the

hit Lifetime Television series “Army Wives,” an ensemble drama about the relationships

and struggles of a diverse group of women living on an active army base with their

families. It is the most successful series in the network’s 23-year history.

Fugate previously wrote the screenplay for the 2004 feature “The Prince & Me,"

directed by Martha Coolidge and starring Julia Stiles. She also wrote the largely

autobiographical 2003 film "Carolina," starring Shirley MacLaine in the role of Grandma

Mirabeau, who was based on Fugate's own late grandmother. Her script “The Senator's

Wife” was named on the annual Top Ten Best Unproduced Screenplays list of 2006.

In addition to "Army Wives," Fugate’s television credits include episodes of

"Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Max Steel."

Raised in Southern California, Fugate began her career on the production side,

where she learned the ropes as a production assistant. She later worked in the literary

department of entertainment talent agency ICM. She also held studio positions at 20th

Century Fox and Columbia Pictures before focusing her full attention on her dream of

becoming a screenwriter.

In 2008, Fugate was chosen as one of 50 women in Daily Variety's Annual

Women of Impact in Hollywood issue.

ABBY KOHN and MARC SILVERSTEIN (Story) most recently collaborated on

last year’s hit romantic comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You,” which featured an all-star

cast under the direction of Ken Kwapis.

Kohn and Silverstein have been working together since they met at the USC

School of Cinema and Television, where they both received MFAs in Film Production.

While at USC, they co-wrote and co-directed a short entitled “Fairfax Fandango,” which

won the Best Short Film Award at the 1997 Los Angeles Film Festival.

Soon after their student film screened, the duo sold a romantic comedy pitch

entitled “Never Been Kissed.” A few months later, their script was being produced as a

major feature film starring Drew Barrymore. The hit film also marked the first release

under the banner of Flower Films.

Following the success of “Never Been Kissed,” the writing team has written for

Warner Bros., DreamWorks, Disney, Spyglass and UA. They are currently working on

the screenplay for “How to Be Single,” inspired by a book by Liz Tuccillo, which re-teams

them with Barrymore’s Flower Films.

Kohn and Silverstein have also collaborated on several television projects. They

created, wrote and co-executive produced the FOX series “Opposite Sex,” and also

served as executive producers on the pilots “Close to Home” and “Splitsville.”

TOBY EMMERICH (Executive Producer) is President and Chief Operating

Officer for New Line Cinema.

From 2001 to 2008, he was President of Production and oversaw the most

successful period in company history, thanks to the success of such hits as the Oscar®winning

“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy; “Wedding Crashers,” which was 2005’s highest-

grossing comedy; “Monster-in-Law”; “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”; “Elf”; “The

Notebook”; “Hairspray”; and “Sex and the City.” Under the New Line banner, he was

more recently an executive producer on such films as “Journey to the Center of the

Earth,” the holiday comedy “Four Christmases,” and the romantic comedies “He’s Just

Not That Into You” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.” Upcoming, he is an executive

producer of the highly anticipated “Sex and the City 2,” due in theatres May 28th.

A long-time studio veteran, Emmerich previously served as president of New

Line Music, in addition to working as an accomplished screenwriter and producer who

wrote and produced the New Line sleeper hit film “Frequency.”

Emmerich attended Wesleyan University. He currently serves on the Board of

Directors for both the Neil Bogart Foundation and the American Cinematheque, and is

on the Board of Trustees for The Calhoun School in New York City.

SAMUEL J. BROWN (Executive Producer) has been a development executive

with New Line Cinema since 2002 and is currently Vice President of Production for the

studio.

He recently worked as a director of development and creative executive

overseeing and managing the productions of “The Last Mimzy,” “Fracture,” “Rush Hour

3,” “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” “Appaloosa” and “Pride and Glory.”

Brown began his career at New Line as an assistant in the development

department before he was promoted to executive assistant to Toby Emmerich. He is a

graduate of Harvard University.

MICHAEL DISCO (Executive Producer), a development executive who has been

with New Line Cinema since 2000, currently serves as Vice President of Production for

the studio.

Disco recently worked as a director of development and creative executive

overseeing and managing the productions of “Fracture,” “Hairspray,” “Harold & Kumar

Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” “Four

Cameron Diaz. She also produced Iain Softley’s fantasy adventure “Inkheart,” starring

Brendan Fraser, and was an executive producer on the comedy “Mr. Woodcock,”

starring Billy Bob Thornton and Susan Sarandon.

Pokorny’s earlier credits as a co-producer include the thriller “Dark Water,”

starring Jennifer Connolly; Lasse Hallström’s “The Shipping News,” starring Kevin

Spacey, Julianne Moore, Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett and Pete Postlethwaite; “Hanging

Up,” directed by Diane Keaton, who also starred with Meg Ryan and Lisa Kudrow; “The

Astronaut’s Wife,” pairing Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron; “A Thousand Acres”; and

the Nicholas Hytner films “The Object of My Affection,” starring Jennifer Aniston and

Paul Rudd, and “The Crucible,” based on Arthur Miller’s play. Pokorny also served as

the line producer on “Safe Passage.”

For HBO, Pokorny produced the controversial 1995 docudrama “Indictment: The

McMartin Trial,” directed by Mick Jackson from a screenplay by Abby Mann and Myra

Mann. Profiling the infamous 1984 McMartin Pre-School child abuse case, the telefilm

won both Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for Outstanding Made for Television Movie.

JOSIE ROSEN (Executive Producer) most recently served as an executive

producer on “Sorority Row” and the upcoming film “Killers,” starring Ashton Kutcher and

Katherine Heigl. Rosen has also served as President of Farrell Paura Productions and

as Senior Vice President of Production at Twentieth Century Fox, where she oversaw

the development and production of the films “Dude, Where’s My Car?” and “From Hell.”

Rosen has also served as President of Production for Horseshoe Bay

Productions, where she oversaw and developed their slate of films. Among her other

producing credits, she was an executive producer on “Just Married”; a co-producer on

CHARLES MINSKY (Director of Photography) first worked with Garry Marshall

as cinematographer of the hit romantic comedy “Pretty Woman.” He continued to

collaborate with the director on several films, including “Dear God” and “Raising Helen.”

Minsky’s additional film credits include “Welcome to Collinwood,” “The Producers,” “You,

Me and Dupree” and “Post Grad.”

He has lensed numerous successful pilots, including “China Beach,” “Related”

ALBERT BRENNER (Production Designer) is a longtime industry veteran whose

career spans more than half a century. He is a five-time Academy Award® nominee for

his production design work on the Herbert Ross-directed films “The Sunshine Boys,”

“The Turning Point” and “California Suite”; Peter Hyams’ “2010”; and “Beaches,” for

director Garry Marshall.

He has also collaborated with Marshall on “Pretty Woman,” “Frankie & Johnny,”

“Dear God,” “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” and “Georgia Rule.” Brenner

also worked repeatedly with director Peter Hyams on the films “The Presidio,” “Running

Scared” and “Capricorn One”; with Herbert Ross on “Max Dugan,” “I Ought to Be in

Pictures,” “The Goodbye Girl” and “T.R. Baskin”; and with Robert Mulligan on “The

Other” and “Summer of ’42.”

Brenner’s long list of film credits also includes Ron Howard’s “Backdraft”; “The

“The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,” “Raising Helen” and “Georgia Rule.”

Green more recently worked on the comedy hits “Baby Mama” and “Ghosts of

Girlfriends Past.” Green’s film editing credits go on to include “Just Like Heaven,”

“Freaky Friday,” “Big Momma’s House,” “Phenomenon,” “While You Were Sleeping,”

“Angels in the Outfield,” “Cool Runnings,” “The Vanishing,” “The Doctor,” “Young Guns

Green began his career as an assistant editor on the seminal adventure films

“Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “Star Wars.” He

GARY JONES (Costume Designer) is an Oscar®-nominated costume designer

who has worked on a wide range of critical and box office successes. He previously

teamed with director Garry Marshall on “The Princess Diaries” and “The Princess Diaries

Earlier in his career, Jones enjoyed a long creative collaboration with famed

costume designer Ann Roth, with whom he shared an Academy Award® nomination for

Anthony Minghella’s “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” They also partnered on such films as

Mike Nichols’ “Primary Colors”; Minghella’s “The English Patient”; Sydney Pollack’s

“Sabrina”; Arne Glimcher’s “Just Cause” and “The Mambo Kings”; Alan J. Pakula’s

“Consenting Adults”; and Brian De Palma’s “Dressed to Kill.”

JOHN DEBNEY (Composer) earned an Academy Award® nomination for his

score for Mel Gibson’s film phenomenon “The Passion of the Christ.”

Debney has worked repeatedly with several noted directors, including Garry

Marshall on “The Princess Diaries,” “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,”

“Raising Helen” and “Georgia Rule.” He has also worked multiple times with Robert

Rodriguez on “Spy Kids,” “Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams,” “Sin City” and “The

Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D”; Tom Shadyac on “Liar Liar,” “Dragonfly”

“Bruce Almighty” and “Evan Almighty”; and Jon Favreau on “Elf” and “Zathura.”

Debney’s music will next be heard in Favreau’s much-anticipated actioner “Iron

Man 2,” due out in Summer 2010, and in “A Thousand Words,” for director Brian

Robbins. His wide range of film credits also includes “Old Dogs,” “Hannah Montana:

The Movie,” “The Stoning of Soraya M.,” “Swing Vote,” “Idlewild,” “Dreamer: Inspired by

a True Story,” “The Pacifier,” “Swimfan,” “The Scorpion King,” “Snow Dogs,” “Jimmy

Neutron: Boy Genius,” “Cats & Dogs,” “Heartbreakers,” “The Emperor’s New Groove,”

“End of Days,” “Inspector Gadget,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “The Relic,”

“Little Giants” and “Hocus Pocus.”

Classically trained, Debney has conducted some of the world’s greatest

orchestras performing his original works. Following the success of the film “The Passion

of the Christ,” he premiered “The Passion of the Christ Symphony” in Rome, featuring an

83-person choir and 96-piece orchestra. This June, the symphony will be performed at

the Vatican in St. Peter’s Square, complete with 200 musicians and a 600-voice choir.

In recognition of his many musical accomplishments, Debney received ASCAP’s

prestigious Henry Mancini Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.

“Día de los enamorados.

Hay uno cada año.

Te guste o no”.

Si estás felizmente enamorado, en el Día de San Valentín – Día de los

enamorados- abundan los corazones, las flores, el romance y los buenos sentimientos.

Pero si no tienes la suerte de estar enamorado, entonces para tí es simplemente un día

más, como cualquier otro.

El director Garry Marshall, en el pasado, ya había logrado capturar las distintas

facetas del amor en sus exitosas comedias románticas anteriores, que llegaron a ser

grandes éxitos de la pantalla grande. El dice: -“Alguna gente piensa que el día de los

enamorados es algo fantástico, y otros completamente lo bloquean. Tiene distintos

significados para las distintas personas, no como las otras festividades que son mucho

más claras casi para todos”- y agrega casi recitando –“En Navidad decoramos los

árboles, me das un regalo, cantamos canciones, luego a casa y a dormir. En Año

Nuevo tomamos, nos damos un beso a las 12 de la noche, cantamos canciones

sentimentales, lloramos, luego a casa y a dormir. Todo es muy simple. En el día del

Árbol… no es una gran fiesta pero cada vez se celebra más, todos queremos “ser

verdes”. Sin embargo, el día de los Enamorados es un día ambiguo. No es fácil definirlo

porque el amor mismo no es fácil de definir. Por eso es tema bueno para una historia,

una comedia romántica sobre el día en el que todos se enfocan en el romance: “El Día

de San Valentín””.

El filme “Valentine’s Day”, a través de los personajes de varias edades, cuenta

las historias de distintas relaciones: primeras citas, amores de ya largo tiempo, jóvenes

fascinaciones, amores de por vida, solteros empedernidos, y amores no

correspondidos. Para contar estas historia interconectadas, la película reúne uno de los

repartos más grandes de conocidas estrellas, como: tres de los artistas que ya

trabajaron en muchas de las películas de Garry Marshall, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway

y Héctor Elizondo; además de Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper,

Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Ashton

Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, George López, Shirley MacLaine, Emma

Roberts, y Taylor Swift.

El productor Mike Karz comenta: -“Tuvimos mucha suerte de tener un grupo de

actores tan extraordinarios. En verdad, el haber podido contar con este nivel de actores

en el filme fue un tributo a Garry Marshall, dada su reputación y su arte. Es un

excelente líder y un brillante comediante, y ha probado sus habilidades una y otra vez a

través de décadas. Es realmente gracioso y sabe cómo hacer reír a la gente, y más

importante aún, sabe contar historias”.

-“Para que cualquier película llegue a realizarse, la suerte, las estrellas y los

planetas tienen que estar alineados”- agrega el productor Wayne Rice –“No hay dudas

filme, con tal cantidad de talentosas estrellas”.

Para Julia Roberts y Anne Hathaway, “Valentine’s Day” es la tercera película que

realizan bajo la dirección de Marshall. Con él realizaron los filmes que las lanzaron a la

fama, “Pretty Woman” y “The Princess Diaries”, respectivamente. Ambas están de

acuerdo en que existen muchas razones por las que a los actores les gusta trabajar con

el famoso director. -“He trabajado en películas maravillosas, pero trabajar con Garry

Marshall es diferente” – dice Hathaway -“Es generoso, sensible y gracioso, un director

en el que uno puedo confiar. Es un cineasta apasionado, que se interesa en cada toma

y trabaja con cada actor para que realice una actuación maravillosa”.

Roberts por su lado, dice: -“Todo lo que quiere Garry es contar una historia

fabulosa, hacer reír a la gente, y es un maestro en su arte”.

Para los actores que trabajarían con él por primera vez, la oportunidad de poder

hacerlo era muy atractiva. -“Garry Marshall es un artesano, y uno no puede dejar pasar

de largo la oportunidad de poder trabajar con alguien que puede elevar su arte, y de

quien puede aprender mucho”- dice Ashton Kutcher.

Bradley Cooper agrega: -“Cuando me enteré que Garry iba a ser el director,

salté a la oportunidad de estar en el filme. Es el director perfecto para una película

como esta”.

-“El es el Rey de la Comedia Romántica” - asegura Jennifer Garner -“y todos los

actores del reparto lo sabían: todos querían estar allí y trabajar con él”.

La súper popular cantante Taylor Swift, debuta en cine con “Valentine’s Day”, y

dice: -“Es increíble para mí poder ser parte en un filme con tantos artistas famosos a

quienes admiro. Sin embargo, debo admitir que mi favorito fue Garry Marshall. Estaba

emocionada de poder trabajar con él. Es encantador y divertido, y no hay duda que

sabe cómo hacer buenas películas. El hizo el esfuerzo para incorporar nuestro mutuo

número de la buena suerte – el 13- y se tomó el tiempo de ponerlo en cada una de mis

escenas Eso fue impresionante, y nunca me lo voy a olvidar”.

De hecho, la respuesta de los actores al preguntarles qué les atrajo para realizar

la película, siempre fue la misma: Garry Marshall. Por su lado, lo que decidió a Marshall

a realizar el filme antes de elegir ningún actor, fue el guión original escrito por Katherine

Fugate. El director dice, recordando: “Mike Karz y Wayne Rice me dijeron que tenían

una película que querían realizar conmigo. Me dijeron Se trata de una historia de amor,

el tipo de películas que tú realizas. Leí el guión y me gustó, entonces dije Perfecto, la

hacemos”.

Fugate cuenta que ella creó las historias entretejidas para la pantalla “para

mostrar el amor desde distintos ángulos, en distintas generaciones: desde el primer

inocente amor del chico de 10 años, al amor de los treintañeros, que lidian con distintas

cosas en su relación, o que se esfuerzan en tener una. También está la pareja de gente

mayor recordando la trayectoria de su amor mutuo a través de los años. Es decir, es el

amor y sus muchas caras más allá del romance. En conclusión, el amor siempre nos

hace ver lo que es más importante en la vida”.

Los socios guionistas Abby Kohn y Marc Silverstein, hace poco demostraron su

mano para la comedia con el filme “He’s Just Not That Into You”. Ellos ayudaron con la

historia. –“Cuando nos reunimos con Garry y los productores, todos queríamos que la

película incluyera el amor desde las distintas perspectivas, y especialmente queríamos

mostrar la opinión de la gente con respecto a esta celebración” – dice el escritor

Silverstein.

Kohn y Silverstein reconocieron la importancia de incluir el amor desde el punto

de vista adolescente, y agregaron un grupo más a esta historia de experiencias de

gente de muchas generaciones. -“Cuando uno es un adolescente, hay muchas

primeras veces en el amor y el romance”- dice Kohn -“pero eso no es algo en lo que uno

se fija en general, al pensar en el día de los enamorados. Nosotros quisimos hacer un

filme con el cual casi todo el mundo pudiera sentirse identificado”.

Marshall dice: -“‘Valentine’s Day” abarca varios tipos de relaciones, y pienso que

funcionan bien porque los actores son muy buenos. Lo más importante fue encontrar la

buena onda entre las parejas. Es algo que no se puede definir, sin embrago la gente

que mira el filme capta si esa afinidad no se da o no Buenos actores y actrices pueden

crearla… y no hay duda que tuvimos un excelente grupo de estrellas”.

“Es un día en el que todos pueden ver tu vida amorosa.

Un día en el que existe la posibilidad de romance…”

“Valentine’s Day” comienza con una nota romántica entre Reed Bennett,

personaje actuado por Ashton Kutcher, y su novia Morley, interpretada por Jessica Alba.

Morley se despierta cuando Reed está tratando de ponerle un anillo de brillantes en el

dedo, y se da cuenta que ella tiene en su mano el teléfono celular. -“El es romántico,

aunque no sé si incurable” – dice Ashton Kutcher sobre su personaje Reed.

Reed es el dueño de una cafetería donde también se venden flores, llamada

Siena Bouquet. El lugar se convierte en el centro de acción el día en el que todos

quieren expresar sus sentimientos de amor. El guionista Rice explica: -“No es una

casualidad el que Reed trabaje en una florería, el lugar denominador común en el Día

de los Enamorados, cuando todos regalan flores y dulces. Era el lugar ideal para centrar

nuestra historia”.

-“Un vendedor de flores sabe todo lo que pasa” – asegura Kutcher - “Sabe quién

está de novio, quién está enfermo, sabe quién está engañando a su pareja... Sabe todo

porque está escrito en las notas y en los mensajes que se envían con las flores”.

Marshall está de acuerdo y dice: -“Los vendedores de las florerías saben sobre

la vida amorosa de la gente, por eso tienen un código de confidencia parecido al de los

médicos. Pero en algunos casos, es difícil mantener los secretos, cuando las cosas se

tornan personales, y eso es parte del dilema de Reed”.

Reed comienza este particular Día de los Enamorados enfocándose en su

propia vida amorosa. Cuando Morley acepta su propuesta, queda fascinado. Alba

describe a su propio personaje como “mucho más formal y conservador que Reed, por

eso pienso que es un buen ejemplo de cómo los opuestos se atraen. La propuesta de

casamiento de Reed la toma por sorpresa. Ella está completamente enfocada en su

carrera, por eso tiene dudas para aceptar ese tipo de compromiso. De todas maneras

le dice que sí”.

De hecho, hasta los amigos de Reed quedan asombrados al enterarse que

Morley aceptó su propuesta. Especialmente Alphonso, que ya se estaba preparando

para consolar a Reed en vez de felicitarlo. George López da vida a Alphonso, quien es

la mano derecha de Reed en Siena Bouquet, y también es su voz de la conciencia en

su vida personal. -“Alphonso está felizmente casado y asentado”- dice López -“por eso

Reed busca sus consejos, si bien no necesita que Alphonso le de las respuestas. El

sabe qué debería hacer. En la vida, algunas veces preguntamos a la gente su opinión,

pero si son verdaderos amigos, no nos dicen exactamente qué hacer. Simplemente nos

muestran cuál es el camino, y es posible que uno ya esté en él”.

Las novedades sobre el compromiso de casamiento de Reed son recibidas con

escepticismo por su mejor amiga, Julia Fitzpatrick, interpretada por Jennifer Garner.

Julia además, prefiere concentrarse en el nuevo y maravilloso hombre en su vida. “

Durante un largo tiempo Julia no tuvo novios, pero ahora finalmente está enamorada” -

dice Garner -“En el Día de San Valentín se despierta y siente que es la persona más

feliz del mundo. Sin embargo, a lo largo del día pasa por altos y bajos. Este filme se

enfoca en el día dedicado al amor, ya sea el nuevo amor o el amor perdido, en tener y

en no tener”.

Patrick Dempsey, interpreta el papel del nuevo amor de Julia, el Dr. Harrison

Copeland, y dice: -“Para mí, el Día de San Valentín es un día muy poco romántico,

porque en realidad uno no puede forzar el romance. El amor tiene que darse

naturalmente. Hay tanta presión para que ese día sea especial y la gente la pase bien,

que es virtualmente imposible que suceda”.

Uno de los alumnos de quinto grado en el cual Julia es maestra, se llama

Edison, y está interpretado por Bryce Robinson. Este niño de 10 años de edad está

flechado con una niña de su clase, por eso, mientras que sus amigos se divierten

intercambiando tarjetas caseras de San Valentín, Edison piensa cuáles son las mejores

maneras de impresionar a la niña de sus sueños.

Edison vive con sus abuelos, Estelle y Edgar, interpretado por las estrellas

veteranas Shirley MacLaine y Héctor Elizondo. Al contrario de su esposo en pantalla,

MacLaine nunca antes había trabajado con Garry Marshall, si bien la actriz y el director

se conocían desde hace años. -“Uno no puede entender bien lo que él dice”- dice

bromeando la actriz- “pero si una está en un buen momento emocional y mental, es fácil

ver su meta”.

-“Es cierto, es todo un proceso entender lo que dice, pero de alguna manera

todo sale bien” – dice Elizondo, quien tiene presencia constante en las películas de

Garry Marshall, y al día de la fecha actuó en todas las películas del director. -“Si por

casualidad yo no estoy disponible, me persigue hasta conseguirme” –dice el actor

riendo.

-“Yo siempre tengo que tenerlo a Héctor”- confirma muy simplemente Marshall.

Estelle y Edgar han vivido juntos por más de 50 años, y han celebrado muchos

días de San Valentín, pero este San Valentín en particular trae algunas sorpresas

reveladoras que van a poner a prueba su matrimonio. MacLaine explica: -“Cada

relación amorosa está llena de promesas y traiciones, y de todo tipo de drama humano.

Esos son los temas que se ven en esta película. Es una comedia romántica graciosa, y

aún así pienso que muestra claramente algunas cosas del amor”.

-“Creo que las historias de amor de las variadas generaciones que se entrelazan

hacen muy interesante a la película”- dice Elizondo -“De muchas formas, nosotros

vemos las cosas distintas, sin embrago otras muchas permanecen iguales a cualquier

edad”.

La diferencia entre las generaciones se vuelve evidente cuando la niñera

adolescente de Edison, Grace, les pide consejos a los abuelos del niño. Emma Roberts

hace el papel de Grace. Ella quiere saber si su relación con su novio, Alex (Carter

Jenkins), debe pasar a ser más íntima. -“Ella quiere tener el perfecto Día de los

Enamorados con su novio, y en sus planes está que ambos dejen de ser vírgenes”revela

Roberts -“A todo lo largo del día tratan de encontrarse, pero las cosas salen mal

una y otra vez. Alex hace todo lo que puede pensar que es romántico y dulce, pero

todos sus intentos fallan, no importa cuánto se esfuerce. Eso demuestra que el Día de

San Valentín puede causar todo tipo de problemas a la gente, y así y todo, todos

deberían divertirse. No es una cosa sólo para parejas, puede ser familia y amigos

también… siempre y cuando sea gente a la que uno quiere”.

Taylor Swift aparece como Felicia, la compañera de la escuela superior y amiga

de Grace. Ella se la pasa dándole consejos de Grace. -“Si yo tuviera que darles un

consejo a mis amigas sobre el Día de los enamorados, sería que si tienen una media

naranja, festejen el día con ganas”- dice Swift -“Pero si no tienen pareja, no hay que

hacerse problema, es simplemente un día cualquiera”.

Para Felicia, esa persona especial es su novio, Willy, en la actuación de Taylor

Lautner. -“Willy y Felicia son entrevistados para unas noticias sobre el amor entre

adolescentes en el Día de San Valentín. Felicia hace que Willy muestre sus dones de

atleta en la cancha”- dice Lautner sobre la desventurada carrera de Willy -“Fue muy

divertido, la mejor parte para mí fue cuando tuve que caerme de cara al suelo”.

Pese a todas las objeciones de Marshall, Lautner corrió él mismo, no quiso tener

un doble, y debía tropezar con el último obstáculo y aterrizar de cara al suelo. -“Fue

muy valiente” - cuenta Marshall -“yo le ofrecí que alguien se cayera por él, pero me

contestó Nah, yo puedo caerme yo. Yo le contesté que él era una de las estrellas, Si te

caes y te lastimas es a mí a quien van a gritarle; y él me dijo Al menos déjame probar.

Bueno dije, espero que no te lastimes. Hablé con el coordinador de dobles y le dije El

muchacho quiere hacer todo él mismo. Pon otra cámara”-cuenta el director riendo “

Tuvimos tres cámaras filmándolo, y él hizo todo perfecto. No necesitamos poner un

doble. Fue maravilloso”.

Felicia y Willy están siendo entrevistados por la estación de televisión local de

Los Ángeles, la KVLA, quienes buscaban “muchachos y muchachas en la calle”, para

que den su opinión sobre el Día de San Valentín.

La productora de noticias Susan, interpretada por Kathy Bates, al principio había

asignado al reportero de deportes Kelvin Johnson para realizar la historia, pese a sus

protestas. Jamie Foxx interpreta a Kelvin. Kelvin está molesto porque lo han separado

de su tema de deportes temporalmente, para que realice reportajes que a su parecer

son “babosos”. -“Kelvin no es un fanático del Día de San Valentín”- dice Foxx -“Su jefa

quiere que vaya y encuentre parejas felices, historias románticas, y todo lo relacionado

con las celebraciones del Día de los Enamorados. El en realidad quiere que lo tomen

seriamente como reportero de deportes. Espera con ansia hacer el gran reportaje que

será su trampolín”.

Kelvin quiere realizar la más importante noticia deportiva del día: sobre cuál será

el futuro del jugador de ataque de fútbol americano profesional, Sean Jackson. Su

carrera está ahora en la cuerda floja tras que su equipo perdió los desempates. Eric

Dane interpreta a Jackson, y comenta: - “Si tienes 25 años y pierdes en los partidos

decisivos, tu actitud será Ya les vamos a ganar la vez que viene. Si en vez tienes 35

años y pierdes, pues piensas en retirarte. Jackson está en el ocaso de su carrera, si

bien pienso que aún es relevante como atleta. La pregunta importante aquí, es si va a

colgar los botines o va a continuar jugando”.

Jessica Biel interpreta a Kara Monahan, la publicista de Sean Jackson, que se

pasa todo el día eludiendo las preguntas sobre las intenciones de su cliente. Al mismo

tiempo destaca la celebración de su fiesta anual “Odio el Día de San Valentín”,

organizada para la gente que al igual que ella, no tiene pareja durante la celebración del

día designado para las parejas. -“Kara tiene una relación especial con el Día de los

Enamorados: lo detesta”- dice Biel riéndose -“Lo que me gusta de Kara es que por un

lado es buena profesional, si bien es muy apasionada y demasiado emotiva. Por mi

lado pienso que el Día de San Valentín puede volver loca a la gente. Por un lado está

la presión de la pregunta ¿Con quien celebrarás? ¿Alguien te ha enviado flores o

dulces? ¿Has recibido muchas tarjetas? Y si las respuestas a esas preguntas son no,

se supone que es algo está mal. Yo pienso que eso es muy tonto, porque ser

independiente y no tener que responder a nadie es fantástico”.

La guionista Katherine Fugate revela que el costado anti-día-de-los-enamorados

de Kara, es de alguna forma un toque auto-biográfico en el guión. “En verdad yo

organizaba una fiesta/ cena anual “Odio el Día de San Valentín”, porque no me gustaba

la idea de que hubiera gente sola durante una celebración semejante, sin compañía y/ o

sin compañero. Un año, dos personas se conocieron en esa fiesta mía, y se

enamoraron. Era una manera positiva de mirar a la festividad y de recordar que, pese a

todo, el amor siempre es maravilloso”.

Paula Thomas es un personaje de “Valentine’s Day” que no tiene tiempo para el

amor. Ella es la agente de Sean Jackson, una mujer de negocios metida de lleno en

ello, interpretada por Queen Latifah. -“Paula es inteligente y tiene confianza en sí

misma” - dice Latifah - “Me encanta la escena en la que ella camina por los pasillos de

la agencia y la gente le tiene miedo. Ella es la mejor en lo que hace, y estoy segura que

no llegó hasta ahí siendo buena”.

La recepcionista de la agencia es Liz Curran, en la actuación de Anne

Hathaway, y revela que Liz se gana la vida a través del teléfono, de más de una

manera. -“Ella tiene una changa como operadora telefónica sexual”- explica la actriz “

pues Liz es una muchacha con verdaderos problemas financieros. Entonces hace ese

trabajo para conseguir el dinero que necesita. No piensa trabajar en eso para siempre,

pero por el momento lo hace hasta que aparezca algo mejor. Creo que Liz es una de

esas muchachas que están abiertas a lo que el universo les puede ofrecer, aunque sea

un tanto inusual”.

Así y todo, la fuente alternativa de dinero de Liz crea algunos problemas con su

novio, Jason, agente en entrenamiento, quien trabaja en el cuarto de correo de una gran

agencia de talentos. Hathaway explica: -“La primera vez que vemos a Liz y a Jason,

han consumado su relación en la víspera del Día de San Valentín. Pero Liz se va

corriendo, dejando a Jason un tanto confundido. Jason es un tipo del pueblo Muncie,

en el estado de Indiana, que jamás se imaginaría que la muchacha de la cual se está

enamorando se gana la vida de esa manera”.

Topher Grace encarna a Jason, y comenta: -“Jason es uno de esos tipos que

tiene planes para su vida, grandes expectativas para sí mismo, y claro está, también

para su novia. Es por eso que el segundo trabajo a medio tiempo que Liz tiene puede

dejarlo muy sorprendido. Yo puedo identificarme con Jason y Liz y su relación de tan

solo dos semanas, justo antes del día de los enamorados, pues yo he vivido algo

parecido personalmente. Es una celebración del amor y compromiso, y a Jason lo

confunde todo lo que tiene que hacer, pero él es suficientemente astuto como para

saber que no quiere arruinar la relación”.

Casi todos los personajes de la historia viven en Los Ángeles, dos de ellos viajan

en un avión en camino a esa ciudad. Julia Roberts hace las veces de la Capitana del

Ejército Norteamericano Kate Hazeltine, ahora en unas pequeñas vacaciones. Está en

un vuelo de 14 horas para acudir a una importante cita, si bien nunca revela con quién.

“Una de las cosas que me gustan de mi personaje Kate, es que hay una especie de

misterio a su alrededor. Pienso que el final de su historia es muy dulce y verdadero”.

Bradley Cooper hace las veces de Holden, el hombre que se sienta al lado de

Kate durante un viaje en avión, y que le presta su hombro para dormir, además de

escucharla pacientemente. -“Bueno, una se pasa catorce horas en el avión y siente que

ahora tiene un nuevo amigo, o bien se pasa las catorce horas tratando de evitar mirar a

la persona que viaja al lado suyo”- dice Roberts riendo.

“Valentine’s Day” vuelve a reunir a Cooper y a Roberts, quienes ya habían

trabajado juntos en la obra teatral de Broadway “Three Days of Rain”. -“Entonces

hacíamos ocho shows por semana, así que la conozco muy bien” - dice Cooper “

Definitivamente, para hacer este filme, ayudó mucho haber tenido esa relación antes,

porque nos pasamos la mayoría del tiempo sentados uno al lado del otro en un lugar

muy pequeñito. En serio, la pasamos muy bien”.

“Estamos en Los Ángeles. Aquí nadie contesta las invitaciones”.

“Valentine’s Day” se realizó enteramente en y alrededor de la ciudad de Los

Ángeles. Se filmó en lugares ubicados en Los Ángeles, Malibú, Hollywood, Venice,

Burbank, Beverly Hills, y en el Valle de San Fernando. También se realizaron algunas

tomas en galpones de filmación en las instalaciones de Warner Bros.

-“Yo soy de Nueva York, sin embargo hace mucho tiempo que vivo aquí, así que

esta es mi carta de amor a Los Ángeles” – dice Marshall. Para realizar ciertas escenas,

el cineasta eligió lugares reconocibles de la ciudad, a manera de telón de fondo.

Algunos de esos lugares fueron: la magnífica sala de espectáculos Disney Concert Hall

y el pintoresco Mercado de Flores de Los Ángeles, ambos ubicados en el centro de la

ciudad; el famoso Hollywood Boulevard, el gran cartel de Hollywood en las montañas; y

además de los románticos canales de Venice.

Una importante escena entre Shirley MacLaine y Héctor Elizondo se filmó en el

cementerio Hollywood Forever, lugar donde descansan grandes leyendas de las

pantallas. El cementerio es también conocido por sus populares proyecciones de

películas clásicas al aire libre. La productora ejecutiva Diana Pokorny detalla: - “Si bien

para ver esas películas uno va al cementerio por la noche, no es un lugar lúgubre que

da miedo, para nada. En verdad es muy hermoso, un lugar romántico para ver buenas

películas viejas en la oscuridad”.

En “Valentine’s Day”, en la película que se está proyectando en el cementerio,

actúa Estelle en sus mejores tiempos en Hollywood, cuando era joven y comenzaba a

ser famosa. Los fanáticos del cine reconocerán la película de 1958 como “Hot Spell”,

cuando Shirley MacLaine era una muchacha.

Un lugar notable que los espectadores que han visto todas las películas de

Garry Marshall reconocerán, es el Beverly Wilshire Hotel, que hoy muchas veces es

reconocido como el hotel de “Pretty Woman”, dada su relevancia en ese memorable

filme. Al realizar “Pretty Woman”, el equipo de utileros de Marshall había puesto un

banco y una parada de buses frente al hotel, para usarlo en una escena entre Julia

Roberts y Richard Gere. Al volver ahora al hotel casi dos décadas después para filmar

“Valentine’s Day”, Marshall quiso volver a filmar en el mismo lugar, si bien “allí no hay

ninguna parada de autobuses, nosotros la pusimos allí” – dice el director recordando “

No hay banco, no hay nada. Pensé que si la había puesto una vez, podía volver a

ponerla una vez más”. Era una especie de homenaje a su filme anterior, por eso,

Marshall hizo instalar el banco exactamente en el mismo lugar que la primera vez, para

una escena clave entre Anne Hathaway y Topher Grace.

Uno de los escenarios principales de “Valentine’s Day”, es la florería Siena

Bouquet de Reed. El diseñador de producción Albert Brenner y su equipo de gente,

tomaron el frente de una tienda vacía en las calles de la ciudad de Burbank, y la

transformaron en la florería/ café.

El equipo de producción de “Valentine’s Day”, es uno de los primeros en la

industria del cine en hacer conscientes esfuerzos para “ser verdes”, y trataron de reducir

a lo mínimo su impacto en el medio ambiente. Pokorny estuvo a cargo en gran parte de

organizar esta “iniciativa verde”, que involucraba las actividades de todos los

participantes, desde el director, a los actores y los miembros del equipo de filmación.

La “iniciativa verde” se extendió a casi todos los aspectos físicos del rodaje, para el cual

se re-utilizaron piezas de utilería, iluminación con energía solar, autos híbridos o que

usaban combustible diesel, platos y utensilios biodegradables, tanto para comer como

para cocinar. Además, a todos y cada uno de los miembros del reparto y del equipo de

filmación, se les dio una botella de acero inoxidable para agua, eliminando así el uso de

miles de botellas de plástico de agua a lo largo de la duración del rodaje.

-“Cada departamento fue muy activo y entusiasta en darnos ideas de cosas que

podríamos hacer. A la vez, Warner Bros. apoyó nuestra iniciativa, y eso fue clave. Nos

reunimos con Jon Romano (a cargo de producciones sostenibles de Warner Bros.

Pictures), para llevar a cabo toda la producción de la manera más responsable posible

con respecto a la conservación del medio ambiente” – explica Pokorny -“Ya no es

cuestión de intentar hacer lo posible para ello, sino que se deben crear tecnologías y

métodos que se irán mejorando cada vez más, y con cada película. Todos los que

estuvimos involucrados en este esfuerzo estuvimos muy entusiasmados de hacerlo,

porque la diferencia en el resultado es tangible”.

El productor ejecutivo Mike Karz agrega: -“Todo el mundo participó con muchas

ganas, y nos dimos cuenta que no es tan difícil hacer una producción y escenarios

verdes. Cada vez va a ser más fácil, y eso es un buen indicio para el futuro”.

-“Hay demasiadas cosas que son dañinas para el medio ambiente, y a mí me

parece muy bien volvernos “verdes”. No es tanto el esfuerzo a realizar, y si nosotros

pudimos hacerlo, otros podrán también”- declara Marshall.

“Puede ser confuso. Puede ser complicado.

Pero al final del día, todo se trata de amor”.

En consonancia con el título de la película, en “Valentine’s Day” sucede todo en

el día mismo de San Valentín. Karz comenta que ese espacio de tiempo sumaba

presiones a las ya existentes del día mismo. -“El día de los enamorados tiene

solamente una cantidad determinada de horas, y hay demasiadas expectativas de todas

clases. Si uno tiene una cita, ¿será el restaurante indicado? Si uno compra un regalo,

¿será bien recibido o pondrá demasiada presión en la relación? Pero si uno en vez no

lo compra, ¿no será tomado a mal? El Día de San Valentín es un gran día para

celebrar, pero vienen con él un montón de esperanzas, que es el tema de cual trata este

filme”.

Marshall concluye diciendo: -“Esperamos que esta película inspire a alguna

gente, para animarse a tener una relación, e inclusive a enamorarse. Si uno ya está

enamorado puede llegar a ser algo maravilloso. Es realmente bueno sentirse

necesitado. El Día de San Valentín es perfecto para siquiera intentarlo, y aún así, tenga

o no uno una pareja, el día de los enamorados puede ser estresante. Así que ¡a

prepararse!

SOBRE LOS ACTORES DEL REPARTO

JESSICA ALBA (Morley Clarkson) el mundo la conoce por su actuación del

personaje Sue Storm, una de las súper heroínas de los filmes “Fantastic Four”, basados

en las revistas de historietas de Marvel Cómics.

Comenzó a ser reconocida internacionalmente a los 19 años, a través de la

pantalla chica, donde actuaba uno de los personajes principales en el único programa

que el director James Cameron realizó para televisión, “Dark Angel”. La primera

temporada de la serie, la actriz fue postulada a los premios Globo de Oro y People’s

Choice, y ganó el Premio TV Guide a la Estrella Revelación del Año, a más del Premio a

la Actriz de Televisión Favorita otorgado por Teen Choice. Dos años más tarde

comenzó a actuar como actriz principal en películas de estudios de cine, como “Honey”

En el 2005, Alba actuó en la aventura de acción submarina “Into the Blue”, en e

filme provocativo aclamado por la crítica “Sin City”, dirigido por Robert Rodríguez y

Frank Miller, y en el primer filme de “Fantastic Four”, que luego se convirtió en un éxito

de taquilla mundial. Alba volvió a interpretar a Sue Storm en “Fantastic Four: Rise of the

KATHY BATES (Susan) ha sido repetidamente galardonada por su trabajo en

teatro, cine y televisión. Ganó el Premio de la Academia® y un Globo de Oro, por su

“Misery”, dirigida por Rob Reiner y basada en la novela de Stephen King. En 1999, fue

La crítica previamente aclamó a Biel, por su actuación en el policial “The

Illusionist”, donde actuó junto a Edward Norton y a Paul Giamatti. Por su labor en el

filme recibió muchos premios en festivales de cine, entre ellos el Premio al Logro

Destacado en Actuación, en el Festival de Cine de Newport Beach; el Premio Estrella

Brillante en el Festival de Cine de Maui Film, y el Premio Estrella Prometedora en el

Festival de Cine Internacional de Palm Springs.

Recientemente se la pudo ver en la película independiente “Easy Virtue”, la cual

tuvo su première en el Festival de Cine de Toronto 2008 y recibió muy buenas críticas.

Más tarde el filme se mostró en festivales de cine en Roma, Londres, y en el Tribecca

de Nueva York. Biel también actuó en la mundialmente exitosa comedia “I Now

Pronounce You Chuck & Larry”, junto a Adam Sandler y a Kevin James. Además prestó

su voz a un personaje de la película animada “Planet 51”.

BRADLEY COOPER (Holden) Recientemente se lo pudo ver en la exitosa

película “The Hangover” de Todd Phillips, que es la comedia clasificada R que más

recaudó en todos los tiempos. La misma ganó el Globo de Oro a la Mejor Película-

Comedia o Musical.

Además de en “The Hangover”, Cooper el año pasado, también actuó en la

comedia de reparto estelar “He’s Just Not That Into You”; en un segmento del filme

antología “New York, I Love You”, dirigido por Allen Hughes; y en la comedia “All About

Steve”, junto a Sandra Bullock.

Próximamente, Cooper actuará en el filme de acción “The A-Team”, junto a Liam

Neeson y a Jessica Biel. Entre otras películas por venir en las que actuará está el

pudo ver a Dane recientemente en la pantalla grande “Marley & Me”, junto a Jennifer

Aniston y a Owen Wilson.

Próximamente, Dane actuará en el musical dramático “Burlesque”, junto a

Stanley Tucci, Cher y Christina Aguilera. El mismo está programado para estrenarse en

Noviembre del 2010. Otras películas en las que trabajó antes fueron: “Open Water 2:

Adrift”, la rompetaquillas “X-Men: The Last Stand”, el filme de terror “Feast”, la comedia

“Sol Goode”, y el drama sobre la Segunda Guerra Mundial “The Basket”, película con la

En televisión, Dane llevó el personaje del Dr. Mark Sloan a “The Practice” en el

PATRICK DEMPSEY (Dr. Harrison Copeland) es bien conocido tanto por el

Además, Dempsey actualmente interpreta al Dr. Derek Shepherd en la grandemente

actuación en la súper exitosa película de Garry Marshall “Pretty Woman”. El actor ha

trabajado en todas las películas del director Marshall, a partir de “Young Doctors in

Love”, y luego en “The Flamingo Kid”, “Nothing in Common”, “Runaway Bride”, “The

“The Prisoner of Second Avenue”, “The Great White Hope”, y “Sly Fox” - esta última por

la cual fue candidato al premio Drama Desk- y la reposición de la obra de Arthur Miller,

“The Price”.

JAMIE FOXX (Kelvin Moore) ganó el Premio de la Academia® al Mejor Actor

2005 por su interpretación del legendario Ray Charles, en el filme biográfico dirigido por

Taylor Hackford- “Ray”. Foxx también ganó el Premio Globo de Oro, el otorgado por el

Gremio de Actores de Cine (SAG®), el de la Academia Británica de Artes de Cine y

Televisión (BAFTA), el Premio Image otorgado por la Asociación Nacional para el

Avance de la Gente de Color (NAACP), y numerosos otros galardones de asociaciones

de críticos de cine. Asimismo compartió la candidatura al premio del SAG® al grupo de

actores del reparto del mismo filme.

También en el año 2005, Foxx fue postulado a los premios Oscar®, Golden

Globo de Oro, SAG®, BAFTA, e Image, al Mejor Actor Secundario, por su trabajo en la

policial dramático de Michael Mann, “Collateral”, donde actuó junto a Tom Cruise. Ese

mismo año, Foxx fue candidato al Globo de Oro y al premio del SAG®, y ganó el Premio

Image al Mejor Actor en una Película de Televisión, por su interpretación de un

pandillero condenado que es postulado al Premio Nobel de la Paz, en el filme

“Redemption” de Stan “Tookie” Williams, para la red FX de televisión.

Próximamente se lo podrá ver a Foxx en la comedia “Due Date”, dirigida por

Todd Phillips- junto a Robert Downey Jr. Entre sus créditos más recientes, están las

películas: el policial “Law Abiding Citizen”; el drama “The Soloist” de Joe Wright; el

policial “The Kingdom”; y la adaptación para la pantalla de Bill Condon, del musical de

Broadway “Dreamgirls”. Foxx fue productor ejecutivo del filme “Life Support”,

protagonizado por Queen Latifah, filme con el que cerró el Festival de Cine de

Sundance 2007.

El gran momento en la pantalla grande le llegó a Foxx en el año 1999, cuando

Oliver Stone lo eligió para actuar como jugador de ataque estrella en “Any Given

Sunday”. En el 2001 co-protagonizó junto a Will Smith la aclamada película biográfica

“Ali”, de Michael Mann. Otras películas en las que actuó fueron: “Miami Vice” de

Michael Mann, con Colin Farrell; el filme dramático sobre la Guerra del Golfo “Jarhead”

Foxx comenzó a ser conocido como comediante. Tras un tiempo en el circuito

de comedia, trabajó junto a Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans y

Tommy Davidson la destacada serie cómica “In Living Color” del canal Fox. En 1996, el

actor lanzó su propia serie, “The Jamie Foxx Show”, que llegó a ser el show tope de la

red WB a lo largo de sus cinco años de duración. Foxx fue co-creador y productor

ejecutivo y dirigió varios episodios del show. Su primer programa cómico especial,

“Jamie Foxx: I Might Need Security” del canal HBO, tuvo su première en Febrero del

año 2002.

Además del éxito que tiene como actor, Foxx tiene una destacada carrera como

músico. Su primer álbum, “Unpredictable”, llego al tope de las listas de ventas fines del

año 2005 y principios del 2006. A raíz de ello se creó el programa especial del canal

NBC “Unpredictable”, en el cual Foxx tocaba junto a artistas como Mary J. Blige,

Common, Snoop Dogg, The Game y Angie Stone. Foxx fue ocho veces postulado a los

premios de Música Billboard, a tres premios Grammy, al premio Soul Train Music, a dos

premios American Music, el cual ganó en la categoría Artista Masculino Favorito. El

último álbum de Foxx, “Intuition”, salió en el 2008, y debutó en tercer puesto en las listas

JENNIFER GARNER (Julia Fitzpatrick) ganó los premios Globo de Oro, el del

Gremio de Actores de Cine (SAG®) y dos veces el People’s Choice, por su trabajo en la

serie dramática “Alias”. Además, a lo largo de las cinco temporadas de duración del

programa, Garner fue cuatro veces postulada a los premios Emmy, tres veces postulada

a los Globos de Oro, y dos veces al del SAG® por su interpretación de la doble agente

de la CIA Sydney Bristow.

Hace poco Garner actuó en la película cómica “The Invention of Lying”, junto a

Ricky Gervais, quien además co-dirigió el filme. Se la pudo ver también junto a Matthew

McConaughey en la comedia romántica “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past”, y en el premiado

filme independiente “Juno”. Otras películas en las que actuó Garner, fueron: “The

TOPHER GRACE (Jason) pasó de la televisión a la pantalla grande, tras haber

protagonizado en grupo ocho temporadas del exitoso programa cómico del canal Fox,

“That ’70s Show”.

Grace recientemente encarnó al madito Venom en el filme “Spider-Man 3” de

Sam Raimi’s, protagonizado por Tobey Maguire y Kirsten Dunst. Grace comenzó a

actuar en comedia junto a Dennis Quaid y Scarlett Johansson, en el filme del año 2004

de Paul Weitz, “In Good Company”. Ese mismo año, actuó junto a Laura Linney en la

original comedia romántica “P.S” de Dylan Kidd. Por su trabajo en ambos filmes, recibió

el Premio Actuación Reveladora otorgada por la Junta Nacional de Críticos.

Grace debutó en cine con el drama protagonizado por grandes estrellas “Traffic”,

de Steven Soderbergh, filme que fue premiado con el Oscar®. Próximamente se lo

podrá ver en el policial de Robert Rodríguez “Predators”, en el cual actúa junto a Adrien

Brody y Laurence Fishburne.

ANNE HATHAWAY (Liz) fue candidata el Premio de la Academia a la Mejor

Actriz® por su trabajo en el drama del 2008 de Jonathan Demme, “Rachel Getting

Married”. Su actuación en dicho filme le valió ser postulada a los premios Globo de Oro,

al del Gremio de Actores de Cine (SAG®), al Independent Spirit, y a varios otros en la

categoría Mejor Actriz, otorgados por distintos círculos de críticos de cine.

Esta primavera, Hathaway será La Reina Blanca, en la muy esperada película

de Tim Burton, la aventura fantástica “Alice in Wonderland”, protagonizada por Johnny

Depp. Asimismo actuará junto a Jake Gyllenhaal en el drama de Edward Zwick, “Love

and Other Drugs”, a estrenarse más tarde este mismo año.

Hathaway debutó favorablemente en cine con un papel protagónico en la exitosa

película de Gary Marshall, la comedia “The Princess Diaries”, y volvió a retomar el

Hace poco, Latifah ganó otro Premio SAG® como parte del Grupo Destacado de

TAYLOR LAUTNER (Willy) es una estrella en ascenso por su trabajo en los

filmes “Twilight”, y ahora es considerado como uno de los hombres líderes de la próxima

generación de Hollywood.

En este año 2010, se lo podrá ver a Lautner en la tercera entrega de la serie

“Twilight”, “Eclipse”, retomando su papel de Jacob Black. El muy esperado filme se

estrenará el 30 de Junio del 2010.

En el 2009, Lautner actuó en “New Moon”, que era la segunda parte de la gran

sensación de taquillas “Twilight”, segunda entrega de la franquicia. En el filme, dirigido

por Chris Weitz, Lautner actuaba junto a Robert Pattinson y Kristen Stewart. “New

Moon” ha batido récords en su día de estreno, y está en camino a ser un segundo

exitazo de taquillas.

Lautner conquistó por primera vez a las fanáticas de Jacob Black con su

interpretación del personaje en el primer filme “Twilight”, en el que actuó junto a

Pattinson y Stewart. El filme, dirigido por Catherine Hardwicke, se estrenó el 21 de

Noviembre del 2008.

GEORGE LÓPEZ (Alphonso) es un popular actor y cómico, que ahora

incursiona en las arenas de la programación nocturna, como presentador y ejecutivo del

programa de charlas del canal TBS “López Tonight”. Tal vez ya se le conozca por su

revolucionario y exitoso programa cómico “George López”, que también co-creó,

escribió y produjo. El show se transmitió durante seis temporadas por el canal ABC con

mucho éxito y aún continúa en la programación. Además, López protagonizó y fue

productor ejecutivo del telefilme del 2009 del canal Nickelodeon “Mr. Troop Mom”.

ilustre carrera abarca más de 50 películas para cine, destacadas con el Premio de la

postulaciones al Emmy, siete Globos de Oro, entre ellos el Premio Cecil B. DeMill a Los

Logros de Toda Una Vida – al margen de ser una autora súper ventas internacional.

Hace poco recibió fue candidata al Globo de Oro por 18ava vez, y fue también

candidata el premio de Gremio de Actores de Cine (SAG®), por su actuación en el papel

principal de la película televisiva del 2008, “Coco Chanel”, del canal Lifetime.

MacLaine debutó como bailarina profesional en la reposición en Broadway de

1950 de “Oklahoma”, y debutó en cine con la película de Alfred Hitchcock “The Trouble

with Harry”, con la cual ganó el Globo de Oro a la Nueva Estella Femenina del Año

1955. Por su papel en “Some Came Running”, fue postulada por primera vez al premio

TAYLOR SWIFT (Felicia) “Valentine’s Day” es la película con la que debuta en

cine. Esta cantante que produce ventas topes en la historia de la música digital, tiene

discos simples que llegaron al tope de los cuadros de música Country y Pop. En el año

2006, a sus 14 años de edad, lanzó su álbum debut homónimo, tras firmar un contrato

de publicación con Sony/ATV Music. Su segundo lanzamiento, “Fearless”, vendió

quíntuple platino, convirtiéndose en el álbum mejor vendido de cualquier género de

música, ambos en los años 2008 y 2009. Se vendieron más de 13 millones de copias,

por lo que Swift ocupa la cartelera de discos de todos los géneros en “Billboard”, con el

álbum listado en los cuadros por m5s tiempo en este siglo. Asimismo es suyo fue uno

de los 20 Debuts Tope de este año calendario, y tiene en general la mayor audiencia

en sus transmisiones de actos de base country. Fue postulada para el premio Grammy

a la Mejor Nueva Artista 2008, y ahora fue por octava vez postulada a los premios

Grammy 2010.

En el año 2009, Swift se convirtió en la artista más joven en los 43 años de

historia de la Asociación de Música Country (CMA), y su acto fue el séptimo femenino

que fue premiado con el Premio CMA al Artista de entretenimiento del Año. También

ganó los Premios CMA 2009 al Album del Año, A la Intérprete Femenina del Año, al

“Fearless” fue votado como el Album del Año 2009, por la Academia de Música

Country (ACM), que otorgó también a Swift el Premio ACM Crystal Milestone al Logro

Destacado en Música Country. Asimismo fue nombrada Nueva Vocalista Tope en la

entrega de premios ACM del 2008.

Swift ganó también el Premio MTV de Videos Musicales 2009, convirtiéndose así

en la primera cantante country en ganar el premio al Mejor Video. Swift fue

galardonada con los Premios CMT 2009 al Video Musical del Año, y al Video Femenino

del Año, premios que ya había ganado en el año 2008. Fue nombrada Súper Estella del

Swift emprendió su primera gira el año pasado, llamada “Taylor Swift Fearless

SOBRE LOS REALIZADORES

GARRY MARSHALL (Director) es uno de los escritores, directores y

productores de televisión, cine y teatro más respetados de Hollywood. Ayudó a lanzar

las carreras de muchos artistas que hoy estrellas de cine y televisión, entre ellas las de

ambas actrices de “Valentine’s Day” Julia Roberts y Anne Hathaway.

Marshall dirigió varias películas que fueron éxitos de taquilla, entre ellas: la

comedia romántica “Pretty Woman”, protagonizada por Julia Roberts y Richard Gere.

Entre la larga lista de sus créditos, están los filmes: “The Flamingo Kid”, protagonizada

por Matt Dillon, la cual Marshall co-escribió; “Nothing in Common”, donde hizo equipo

con Tom Hanks y Jackie Gleason; “Overboard”, con Goldie Hawn y Kurt Russell;

“Beaches”, protagonizada por Bette Midler y Barbara Hershey; “Frankie & Johnny”,

MIKE KARZ (Productor) tiene más de 20 años de3 experiencia como exitoso

productor de cine y televisión, como escritor de televisión y como ejecutivo de estudio.

Próximamente Karz estrenará la comedia de acción “Killers”, protagonizada por Ashton

Kutcher y Katherine Heigl, bajo la dirección de Robert Luketic. Su estreno está

programado para Junio del 2010. Karz volverá a formar equipo con Garry Marshall más

tarde este mismo año, con la comedia para la familia “Blended”. Karz tiene varios

proyectos en distintas etapas de desarrollo, entre ellos los filmes: “Honeymoon with

Harry”, escrita por el ganador del Oscar® Paul Haggis; “Say Uncle”, que estará

protagonizada por Zach Galifianakis; y “Fratboy”, que será dirigida por David Dobkin.

Otras películas producidas por Karz antes de ello, fueron: “Sorority Row”, cuyo

reparto de estrellas ganó en conjunto el Premio de Estrellas Femeninas del Mañana, en

la convención del ShoWest 2009; “Good Luck Chuck”, protagonizada por Dane Cook y

Jessica Alba; “First Daughter”; “Malibu’s Most Wanted”; y “Max Keeble’s Big Move”, a la

cual el Departamento Norteamericano de Salud y Servicios Humanos otorgó un

Antes de ser productor, Karz era ejecutivo en Orion Pictures, TriStar Pictures, y

KATHERINE FUGATE (Guión/ Historia) creó y fue productora ejecutiva de la

serie “Army Wives” del canal Lifetime Television, un drama con un reparto estelar que

trataba sobre las relaciones y problemas de un grupo diverso de mujeres, que viven con

sus familias en una activa base militar. La serie es una de las más exitosas en 23 de

historia de la red televisiva.

Fugate antes había escrito el guión de la película del 2003, “The Prince & Me”,

dirigida por Martha Coolidge y protagonizada por Julia Stiles. Asimismo escribió el filme

en gran parte auto-biográfico del 2003, "Carolina”, en el cual actuaba Shirley MacLaine

en el papel de la Abuela Mirabeau. Este personaje estaba basado en la propia y ya

difunta abuela de Fugate. En el año 2006, su guión de “The Senator's Wife” fue

nombrado como uno de los 10 Mejores Guiones No Producidos.

Además de "Army Wives”, los créditos de Fugate en televisión, también incluyen

episodios de "Xena: Warrior Princess" y de "Max Steel”.

Fugate creció en el sur de California, y comenzó su carrera trabajando en

producción, así aprendió lo necesario para ser asistente de producción. Más tarde

comenzó a trabajar en el departamento literario para el departamento de talentos de la

agencia ICM. Trabajó en distintos puestos en 20th Century Fox y en Columbia Pictures

antes de enfocarse completamente en realizar su sueño de ser guionista.

En el año 2008, Fugate fue elegida como una de las 50 Mujeres de Impacto en

Hollywood, por la publicación del ejemplar anual de “Daily Variety's”.

ABBY KOHN y MARC SILVERSTEIN (Historia) hace poco trabajaron juntos en

el guión de la película que pasó a ser el gran éxito del año pasado, la comedia

romántica “He’s Just Not That Into You”, que tenía un reparto de grandes estrellas,

dirigidas por Ken Kwapis.

Kohn y Silverstein han trabajado juntos desde que se conocieron en la Escuela

de Cine y Televisión de la Universidad del Sur de California (USC). Allí ambos

recibieron su título de maestría en artes de Producción de Cine. Mientras estaban en la

universidad, co-escribieron y co-dirigieron un cortometraje llamado “Fairfax Fandango”,

el cual ganó el Premio al Mejor Cortometraje 1997 en el Festival de Cine de Los

Ángeles.

Poco tiempo después de ser exhibida su película de estudiantes, el dúo vendió

la comedia romántica “Never Been Kissed”. Meses después, el guión se produjo como

película de un gran estudio, protagonizada por Drew Barrymore. El exitoso film, fue

también el primero que lanzaba la firma Flower Films.

Tras el gran éxito de “Never Been Kissed”, el equipo de escritores escribió para

los estudios Dreamworks, Disney, Warner Brothers, Spyglass y UA. Ahora se

encuentran trabajando en el guión de “How to Be Single”, inspirado en el libro de Liz

Tuccillo, quien vuelve a trabajar con ellos para la compañía de Barrymore, Flower Films.

Kohn y Silverstein también han trabajado juntos para varios programas de

televisión. Ellos crearon, escribieron y fueron co-productores ejecutivos de la serie del

canal FOX “Opposite Sex”. Asimismo fueron productores ejecutivos de los programas

piloto “Close to Home” y “Splitsville”.

TOBY EMMERICH (Productor Ejecutivo) es Presidente y Jefe de Operaciones

de New Line Cinema.

Desde el año 2001 al 2008, fue Presidente de Producción en la compañía, y

supervisó el período más exitoso de historia de la misma, gracias a películas como: la

trilogía ganadora del Oscar®- “The Lord of the Rings”, la comedia de más recaudación

del año 2005 “Wedding Crashers”, “Monster-in-Law”, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”,

“Elf”, “The Notebook”, “Hairspray” y “Sex and the City”. Con la marca New Line,

recientemente fue productor ejecutivo de las películas “Journey to the Center of the

Earth”; la comedia navideña “Four Christmases”; y las comedias románticas “He’s Just

Not That Into You” y “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past”. Próximamente, será productor

ejecutivo de la muy esperada “Sex and the City 2”, que estará en los cines el 28 de

Mayo del corriente año.

Emmerich es ya un antiguo veterano de los estudios de cine. Ya había sido

Presidente de New Line Music, además había trabajado como exitoso guionista y

Emmerich estudió en la Universidad Wesleyan. Actualmente es parte de la

Junta Directiva tanto de la Fundación Neil Bogart como de American Cinematheque.

SAMUEL J. BROWN (Productor Ejecutivo) ha sido ejecutivo de desarrollo en

New Line Cinema desde el año 2002, y ahora es Vicepresidente de Producción del

estudio.

Hace poco trabajó como director de desarrollo y ejecutivo creativo, supervisando

y manejando las producciones de “The Last Mimzy”, “Fracture”, “Rush Hour 3”, “Harold

& Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”, “Appaloosa” y “Pride and Glory”.

Brown comenzó su carrera en New Line como asistente en el departamento de

desarrollo. Luego fue promovido a asistente ejecutivo de Toby Emmerich. Se graduó

de la Universidad de Harvard.

MICHAEL DISCO (Productor Ejecutivo) es un ejecutivo de desarrollo que trabaja

en New Line Cinema desde el año 2000. En la actualidad es Vicepresidente de

Producción del estudio.

Disco hace poco trabajó como director de desarrollo y como creativo ejecutivo

supervisando y manejando las producciones de los filmes “Fracture”, “Hairspray”,

“Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”,

“Four Christmases” y “He’s Just Not That Into You”. Ahora se encuentra trabajando en

la venidera película de fantasía y aventuras de Bryan Singer, “Jack the Giant Killer”.

DIANA POKORNY (Productora Ejecutiva) hace poco fue productora ejecutiva

del drama “My Sister’s Keeper”, dirigida por Nick Cassavetes y protagonizada por

Cameron Diaz. También produjo la aventura de fantasía de Iain Softley “Inkheart”,

protagonizada por Brendan Fraser; y fue productora ejecutiva de “Mr. Woodcock”,

protagonizada por Billy Bob Thornton y Susan Sarandon.

Antes de ello, Pokorny también trabajó como co-productora, y entre esas

películas se encuentran: “Dark Water”, protagonizada por Jennifer Connolly; “The

Shipping News” de Lasse Hallstrom, con la actuación de Kevin Spacey, Julianne Moore,

Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett y Pete Postlethwaite; “Hanging Up”, dirigida por Diane

Keaton, que también actuó en el filme junto a Meg Ryan y Lisa Kudrow; “The

Astronaut’s Wife”, donde actuaron juntos Johnny Depp y Charlize Theron; “A Thousand

Acres”; y los filmes de Nicholas Hytner “The Object of My Affection”, con Jennifer

Aniston y Paul Rudd, y “The Crucible”, basada en la perdurable obra teatral de Arthur

Miller. Asimismo, Pokorny fue productora activa en “Safe Passage”.

Pokorny produjo para del canal HBO, un poderoso y controvertido documental

dramático en 1995, llamado “Indictment: The McMartin Trial”, dirigido por Mick Jackson

a partir de un guión de Abby Mann y Myra Mann. El telefilme relata el caso de abuso de

niños en la escuela pre-escolar McMartin en el año 1984. El documental ganó los

Premios Emmy y Globo de Oro en la categoría Película Sobresaliente Hecha para

Televisión.

JOSIE ROSEN (Productora Ejecutiva) hace poco fue productora ejecutiva de

“Sorority Row” y de la venidera “Killers”, protagonizada por Ashton Kutcher y Katherine

Heigl. Rosen fue Presidente de Farrell Paura Productions y Vicepresidente de

Producción Senior en Twentieth Century Fox, donde supervisó el desarrollo y

producción de los filmes “Dude, Where’s My Car?” y “From Hell”.

Rosen fue Presidente de la casa productora Horseshoe Bay, en donde

supervisaba y desarrollaba una lista de películas. Entre sus créditos como productora

ejecutiva cabe mencionar “Just Married”; como co-productora “Gloria” y “Desperate

Measures”; y como productora asociada “The Amazing Panda Adventure”.

CHARLES MINSKY (Director de Fotografía) la primera película que filmó para

Garry Marshall como camarógrafo, fue la exitosa comedia romántica “Pretty Woman”.

Tras ello, trabajó con el director en varios filmes, entre ellos “Dear God” y “Raising

Helen”. Otras películas a las cuales Minsky dio lente fueron: “Welcome to Collinwood”,

“The Producers”, “You, Me and Dupree” y “Post Grad”.

Filmó numerosos programas piloto, entre ellos: “China Beach”, “Related” y

ALBERT BRENNER (Diseñador de Producción) es un veterano de la industria

con largos años de experiencia, con una carrera que abarca casi medio siglo. Fue cinco

veces candidato al Premio de la Academia® por su trabajo como diseñador de

producción en las películas dirigidas por Herbert Ross: “The Sunshine Boys”, “The

Turning Point” y “California Suite”; por “2010” de Peter Hyams; y por “Beaches”, del

director Garry Marshall.

También trabajó con Marshall en sus filmes “Pretty Woman”, “Frankie & Johnny”,

“Dear God”, “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” y “Georgia Rule”. Brenner

asimismo formó equipo con el director Peter Hyams para sus filmes “The Presidio”,

“Running Scared” y “Capricorn One”; con Herbert Ross en “Max Dugan”, “I Ought to Be

in Pictures”, “The Goodbye Girl” y “T.R. Baskin”; y con Robert Mulligan en “The Other” y

La larga lista de créditos de Brenner también incluye los filmes: “Backdraft” de

BRUCE GREEN (Montaje) tiene ya una relación laboral de años con Garry

Marshall, para quien realizó el montaje de sus películas “Runaway Bride”, “The Other

Sister”, “The Princess Diaries”, “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement”, “Raising

Helen” y “Georgia Rule”.

Green recientemente trabajó en las exitosas comedias: “Baby Mama” y “Ghosts

of Girlfriends Past”. Entre sus créditos, cabe mencionar las películas: “Just Like

Heaven”, “Freaky Friday”, “Big Momma’s House”, “Phenomenon”, “While You Were

Jones hace poco trabajo en la película independiente de pronto estreno “Main

Próximamente se podrá escuchar la música de Debney en la muy esperada

película de acción de Favreau, “Iron Man 2”, a estrenarse en el verano del 2010; y en “A

Thousand Words”, del director Brian Robbins. Entre la gran variedad de películas a las

que dio música, cabe mencionar “Old Dogs”, “Hannah Montana: The Movie”, “The

Stoning of Soraya M”., “Swing Vote”, “Idlewild”, “Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story”,

“The Pacifier”, “Swimfan”, “The Scorpion King”, “Snow Dogs”, “Jimmy Neutron: Boy

Genius”, “Cats & Dogs”, “Heartbreakers”, “The Emperor’s New Groove”, “End of Days”,

“Inspector Gadget”, “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, “The Relic”, “Little Giants” y

“Hocus Pocus”.

Debney estudió música clásica, y dirigió algunas de las mejores orquestas del

mundo tocando su música original. Tras el gran éxito de “The Passion of the Christ”, la

première de “The Passion of the Christ Symphony” en Roma, con un coro de 83

personas y una orquesta de 96- instrumentos. El próximo Junio, la sinfonía será tocada

en la Plaza San Pedro del Vaticano, con una orquesta de 200 músicos y un coro de 600

voces.

En reconocimiento de sus múltiples logros, Debney fue galardonado con el

prestigioso Premio Henry Mancini 2005 a los Logros de Toda Una Vida, otorgado por la

Sociedad Norteamericana de Compositores, autores y Editores (ASCAP).
