Grant Gershon Joins LA Opera as Associate Conductor / Chorus Master
and
Extends Contract as Music Director of Los Angeles Master Chorale Through 2010/11 Season

(LOS ANGELES, CA) May 21, 2007 - Plácido Domingo, LA Opera's Eli and Edythe Broad General Director, and Mark Foster, Chairman of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, jointly announced today that Grant Gershon will expand his role at the Music Center by joining LA Opera in the newly created position of Associate Conductor / Chorus Master while also continuing his role as Music Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale by extending his contract through the 2010/11 Season. Mr. Gershon, who joined the Chorale in 2001, is currently celebrating his sixth year with the Chorale. Both LA Opera and the Los Angeles Master Chorale are resident companies of the Music Center of Los Angeles County.

New Post at LA Opera Announced
"Grant Gershon will join LA Opera as Associate Conductor / Chorus Master, effective at the beginning of the 2007/08 Season," said Mr. Domingo. "This is very exciting news for Los Angeles Opera, and I am delighted to welcome Grant Gershon to the Company. He is an exceptional musician whose broad musical interests, technical mastery and impressive experience will be a huge asset to LA Opera. I have long admired his extraordinary work with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and elsewhere. This is a great coup for us to have him join us." Mr. Gershon replaces William Vendice, who has chosen to step down from his position of Head of Music Staff / Chorus Master at the end of the current season. "I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize William Vendice for his many years of wonderful work with the Los Angeles Opera Chorus," continued Mr. Domingo. "On behalf of everyone at LA Opera, we wish him well in all of his future endeavors and thank him for his significant contribution to the Company's artistic excellence."

Mr. Gershon, in collaboration with Mr. Domingo and Music Director James Conlon, will be responsible for building and shaping the Los Angeles Opera Chorus into a choral ensemble, with a distinctive musical identity and aesthetic. Mr. Gershon is a highly respected conductor who has been widely credited for making the Master Chorale one of the finest and most adventurous of all American choral organizations since taking the post of Music Director in 2001. His initial contract with LA Opera will run through the 2008/09 Season. Mr. Gershon returns to LA Opera after previously holding the post of Assistant Conductor / Principal Pianist from 1988 to 1994.

"I am very much looking forward to working in close collaboration with Grant Gershon," said Music Director James Conlon. "He is one of the leading lights in America's choral scene and LA Opera is most fortunate to have him as Associate Conductor / Chorus Master. I have been very happy working with the members of the LA Opera Chorus during my first season with the Company, and I know that Mr. Gershon's mastery will add immeasurably to all of our coming productions."

"With this appointment I am deeply honored by the trust that Plácido Domingo and James Conlon have put in me, and I look forward to working together with these two great musicians to further the artistic excellence of LA Opera," said Mr. Gershon. "This is a tremendously exciting time of musical growth for the Company, and I am proud to be a part of its bright future. In my role as Chorus Master I look forward to working with the highly gifted members of the LA Opera Chorus, to building upon their many triumphs and together taking this ensemble to the greatest heights. As Associate Conductor I am thrilled to return to the opera pit and make music with my good friends in the LA Opera Orchestra."

"I am delighted that Grant Gershon will join LA Opera while retaining his position at the Los Angeles Master Chorale," said LA Opera Chairman and CEO Marc I. Stern. "The Music Center's creative leadership has enabled all of us to work together in a new way to share our resources in a positive, inclusive atmosphere. This exciting development will help all of us at the Music Center build upon our increasingly dynamic arts community in downtown Los Angeles."

Duties with Los Angeles Master Chorale Extended
Grant Gershon, Music Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale since 2001, has also extended his contract with that renowned choir through the 2010/11 Season. "It is with great pleasure that we announce Grant's continued association with the Los Angeles Master Chorale," said Mark Foster, Chairman of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. "The contract extension will, among other things, allow for significant long-term artistic planning, provide continuity in leadership and ensure the Chorale continues to blaze ground-breaking trails. Under Grant's visionary leadership, the Los Angeles Master Chorale has become the country's preeminent chorus. He has set himself apart as a leader, innovator and exceptional musician and used those gifts to propel the Chorale to new heights in a relatively short period of time. We look forward to working closely with him to realize his artistic vision in the years to come.

"Additionally, Grant's new association with our colleagues at LA Opera is great news for the Chorale, LA Opera, the Music Center and the entire Los Angeles arts community. As his prominence continues to grow, it can only serve to enhance the Chorale in ways we can't even imagine. And his demonstrated success in leading the remarkable evolution of the Master Chorale will no doubt help him develop the LA Opera Chorus into an even more accomplished ensemble."

"I am extremely pleased to extend my commitment to the Los Angeles Master Chorale through the year 2011, and I am grateful to the Master Chorale's Board of Directors for the trust that they have shown in me," Mr. Gershon stated. "My relationship with this dynamic organization has been a source of great joy and deep satisfaction for me over the past five years. I am very happy that the word seems to be getting out these days-the LA Master Chorale is one of the most exciting, adventurous and accomplished vocal ensembles in the world. I am extraordinarily proud of what our extremely gifted singers have accomplished over the past few seasons, and, at the same time, I feel that we are still early in our journey together. I look forward to many more challenges and triumphs on the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage and to the continued artistic and spiritual growth of this great ensemble.

"As a native Angeleno, I cannot begin to describe the thrill and the pride that I feel in assuming these dual roles with two of the city's most dynamic arts organizations. I strongly believe these two positions will complement each other and that LA Opera, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Music Center itself will benefit greatly by the close ties that my association with both organizations will engender. I also believe passionately that Los Angeles will continue to take a pivotal leadership role in the global arts scene, and as Music Director of the LA Master Chorale and Associate Conductor / Chorus Master of the LA Opera, I will do all that I can to ensure that LA remains the most universally envied city in the musical world."

Many of these appearances have been as music director for projects by famed director Peter Sellars with whom Mr. Gershon has had a long artistic relationship.

Gershon has served as chorus master on two Grammy Award-nominated CDs, Sweeney Todd (New York Philharmonic Special Editions) and Ligeti's Grand Macabre (Sony Classical). He was recently featured on the Great Performers series at Lincoln Center leading the LA Master Chorale in vocal works of Steve Reich, and on the Making Music Series at Zankel Hall. Later this season he will conduct the Utah Symphony in performances of Ricky Ian Gordon's acclaimed new opera Grapes of Wrath. As an educator, for the past four summers he has served as Music Director of the Idyllwild Arts Festival Chorus. Additionally, this summer Mr. Gershon will conduct the Los Angeles Children's Chorus presentation of a new opera, The Keepers of the Night, by Peter Ash and Donald Sturrock, and he will make his debut at the Berkshire Choral Festival.

Prior to joining the Chorale, Mr. Gershon served as Assistant Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic from 1988 to 1994, during which time he led performances at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Hollywood Bowl. Mr. Gershon also served as Assistant Conductor / Principal Pianist with LA Opera from 1988 to 1994, where he participated in over 40 productions and garnered a reputation as one of the country's exceptional vocal coaches.

He has also served as Assistant Conductor at the Salzburg Festival, the Berlin Staatsoper and the Festival Aix-En-Provence, working with conductors Esa-Pekka Salonen, Daniel Barenboim and Claudio Abbado respectively. Mr. Gershon is in demand as a pianist for such leading singers as Kiri Te Kanawa, Peter Schreier, Rod Gilfry and Audra McDonald. He received his bachelor of music degree cum laude in piano performance from USC, and he was named USC Thornton School of Music Outstanding Alumnus of the Year in May 2002. Dennis Hopper presented the Taurus World Stunt Awards Action Movie Star of the Year to Gerard Butler, describing Butler’s role as Spartan King Leonidas in the groundbreaking international smash film 300 as a, “powerful, flesh-and-blood performance combined with brilliantly aggressive, athletic stuntwork.” Hopper said, “Gerard Butler brought us a state of the art, yet ancient vision of an action hero for the 21st century.”

The presentation of this year’s Taurus World Stunt Awards Foundation grant recipients, Tony Angelotti and Larry Rippenkroeger was one of the centerpieces of the show. Angelotti, who was seriously injured while doubling for Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean: At the End of the World, also won this years Best Fight award for his work in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Bruce Willis made a heartfelt tribute to his own stunt man and good friend, Larry Rippenkroeger, who was injured during Live Free or Die Hard. Willis said, “I want to thank everyone who’s a part of the Taurus World Stunt Awards Foundation which provides assistance to stunt performers who experience debilitating stunt related injuries.” Envisioned by philanthropist Dietrich Mateschitz, founder and CEO of Red Bull Energy Drink, the Foundation gives financial grants in the event of a stunt related temporary, partial or permanent disability. The Foundation is perpetuated by annual Taurus World Stunt Awards programming and ongoing fundraising activities.

The primary aim of the event was to honor the elite professionals of the stunt community. To that end, it’s our pleasure to congratulate the following 2007 Taurus World Stunt Awards Winners!

And The Critics' Choice Awards Show Goes to ... VH1

The Broadcast Film Critics Association's 'Critics' Choice Awards' Honors VH1 With a 3-Year Deal

The First Major Awards Show of the Season Will Air Live From the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on VH1, Monday, January 7, 2008

The Broadcast Film Critics Association's (BFCA) "Critics' Choice Awards" show will make VH1 its new television network home with an exclusive three-year deal. The awards are bestowed annually by the BFCA to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. VH1 will air the 13th annual "Critics' Choice Awards" gala live from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Monday, January 7, 2008.

Since its inception in 1995, the "Critics' Choice Awards" has become a star-studded bellwether event of the movie awards season. The BFCA consistently picks nominees and winners that go on to garner more Academy Award nominations and wins than any other of the movie awards shows.

In 2007 alone, the "Critics' Choice Awards" foretold 30 of the 35 nominees and six of the seven Oscar(R) winners in the top seven categories including best picture, acting, directing, and writing. In addition, since 1999 the BFCA has correctly chosen 43 of 45 Academy Award nominated movies in the Best Picture category and this year was the only major film critics group to name "The Departed" (the 2007 Oscar(R) winner) as Best Picture.

The "Critics' Choice Awards" is the first major award show of the year and the only one to air before the Oscar(R) nomination ballots are mailed in. With its history of picking nominees and winners, it provides television viewers with their first opportunity to see all the top awards season contenders in one place.

The "Critics' Choice Awards" is always a hot ticket event for entertainment A-listers. Attending the show in 2007 was a who's who of Hollywood including: Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Forest Whitaker, Helen Mirren, Alan Arkin, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Clint Eastwood, Ryan Gosling, Kate Winslet, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Penelope Cruz, Spike Lee, Jessica Biel, Sacha Baron Cohen and Dakota Fanning.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association is the largest film critics' organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 200 television, radio and online critics. BFCA members are the primary source of information for today's film going public. The very first opinion a moviegoer hears about new releases at the multiplex or the art house usually comes from one of its members.

"The VH1 audience has a ravenous appetite for pop culture, especially films and the A-list names that appear in them. Our viewers will welcome the annual Critics' Choice Awards ceremony which is the first, must-attend event of Hollywood's award season," said Tom Calderone, EVP and General Manager, VH1. "We are honored to have the BFCA join the VH1 family and hope to be able to add our creative stamp to the show."

"VH1 is a window onto the pop culture landscape that the Broadcast Film Critics Association reports on, making this an ideal network home for our show," stated Joey Berlin, President of the BFCA. "We are thrilled to have VH1 host our awards show and look forward to growing with the network."

VH1 will expand elements of the show online at VH1.com and on VH1 Mobile. Exclusive video footage from the event will include celebrity interviews, "behind-the-scenes" footage and more. Additional multiplatform plans will be announced closer to the event.

VH1 connects viewers to the music, artists and pop culture that matter to them most with series, specials, live events, exclusive online content and public affairs initiatives. VH1 is available in 90 million households in the U.S. VH1 also has an array of digital services including VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul and VSPOT, VH1's broadband channel. About Smart Car

The Smart™ car concept is derived from the innovativeness and ingenuity of Swatch CEO Nicolas Hayek. In 1994, Swatch teamed up with Daimler-Benz to design and develop the purpose-built factory complex known as Smartville in Hambach, Lorraine, France, as a joint-venture to bring together the renowned vehicle engineering and logistics of Daimler-Benz and the design creativity and marketing expertise of Swatch. For instance, the Smart™ car's design and marketing plans called for exterior colors, which can be easily modified by a Smart technician simply by changing out the body panels of the car within 20 minutes. In short, the Smart™ in itself is a unique concept combining quality German engineering and passenger safety with performance, style, comfort, and efficiency. Think...Smart. Live...Smart. 'Summer Of Love' 40th Anniversary Celebration Gets Underway With Releases From Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape and The Remains

The Summer Of Love that brought Sgt. Pepper, "White Rabbit," "Brown Eyed Girl," "Up, Up and Away," "Ode to Billie Joe," Monterey Pop, and other musical touchstones is approaching its 40th anniversary. With commemorations in the works at nearly every media outlet, Legacy Recordings, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, is letting its freak flag fly with a campaign in celebration of an era that changed the world.

Three brand new titles are set to arrive in stores on May 15th.

Sweeping Up the Spotlight: Jefferson Airplane Live at the Fillmore East 1969 (RCA/Legacy) was recorded in November, the same month the band's landmark Volunteers was released. This previously unissued 61-minute set finds the classic lineup at their peak, performing a great set list ("Volunteers," "Good Shepherd," "Plastic Fantastic Lover," "The Ballad Of You & Me & Pooneil," "White Rabbit," much more), plus several songs not found on any JA albums. The package includes introductory liner notes by band member Jorma Kaukonen.

Listen My Friends! The Best of Moby Grape (Columbia/Legacy) is Moby Grape's first new anthology in 14 years, and it's the perfect 20-song overview of this first generation San Francisco band, from their four highly-prized Columbia albums of 1967-'69, with two well-chosen rarities (one of them previously unissued). The package includes an introduction by David Fricke of Rolling Stone and a 1,200-word liner notes essay by Santa Clara-based writer Jud Cost;

The Remains (Epic/Legacy) is the first new look (in 16 years!) at the beloved Boston band who opened the Beatles' final tour in the summer of '66, opening with the 10 songs of their one-and-only LP (in stereo, with "Diddy Wah Diddy," "Heart," "Lonely Week-End," and the all-time nugget "Don't Look Back"), followed by the other 10 songs they cut for CBS in '65-66 (on CD in stereo for the first time), topped of with an introduction by vocalist/guitarist Barry Tashian and a 1,200-word liner notes essay by Jeff Jarema.

It was the best of summers, it was the worst of summers - but one thing for sure, it was a summer that no one ever forgot. As U.S. troop strength in Southeast Asia surpassed a half-million and Surveyor spacecrafts touched down on the moon - the first Be-Ins took place in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other cities. Against a backdrop of psychedelia, free love and acid rock, whose cheerleaders urged everyone to "Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out," 1967s' Summer Of Love collided with The Long Hot Summer - and all hell broke loose. A year later, the Rolling Stones put it into words: "But what can a poor boy do, except to sing for a rock and roll band?"

The same parks that hosted anti-war rallies in the spring of '67 were the sites of Be-Ins that went on all summer, even while some of the worst race riots in U.S. history were taking place on the streets of Newark, Detroit and Cambridge, Massachusetts. The soundtrack of the summer - "All You Need Is Love," "Light My Fire," "Respect," "Let's Live For Today," "Cold Sweat," "Funky Broadway," "San Francisco (Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair)," "A Whiter Shade Of Pale," "Groovin'," "Windy," "Somebody To Love," "Baby I Love You," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," "Reflections," "The Letter" - was as chaotic as the events themselves.

FASHION FEATURES WITH EVERYWOMAN MO COLLINS

MO DOES THE 80s, SHE’S IN THE COUGAR CLUB AND… ON HER
INSPIRING PERFORMANCE IN THE ONE WOMAN SHOW MO VS. MO

Thursday 17th May 2007

CA—Celebrity Mo Collins is giving her take on the 80s
fashion era on VH1’s This is the Eighties. The
everywoman star of the upcoming film The Cougar Club
says that she loves the zany fashion sense of the
eighties and how it is still in vogue today with
influences being evidenced on the runways. Mo should
know, as she has personally played over eighty zany
different characters on MadTV and is one of America’s
leading comedic actresses and comedy stars today who
‘grew up’ in the 80s.

The versatile and multi-faceted star who is also a
single parent, says she loved eighties fashions and
how they let women express and explore their ‘feminine
personality.’ Eighties fashion rocks for Collins! It
was the decade of leg warmers, a plethora of bright
colors, zany patterns, the rocker belts, the boots and
even the eighties big hair styles, which to Collins
represented freedom in the city for a woman as
eighties trends let women experiment being larger then
life. This was greatly impacting on Mo who was
naturally shy pre-teens.

Collins, whose MadTV stardom grew rapidly spanning a
decade from seasons four to ten, was discovered in the
80s as a young improv comedian actress in a nationwide
talent search conducted by Disney, and she remembers
the innovation of eighties’ fashion styling and the
creative ways that designers pushed the boundaries as
fashion intersected with art, entertainment and music.

“We need to bring some of the 80s carefree-ness back
and be less serious and more fun in fashion, art and
life as women. It is still sexy to be big thinking,
colorful, loud and yet sensual, tasteful, gracious and
stylish,’ says Collins.

The 41 year-old star is ‘everywoman’ these days. Along
with being an avid ‘baseball mum’ of a 12 year-old
son, she is in The Cougar Club with Faye Dunaway which
premieres at the Cannes film festival this Saturday.
Collins plays the TransAm driving Cindy Conrad, who is
the epitome of the sexy older mature women (Cougar)
that young men still find irresistibly attractive.

“I feel like an 80s guy in this funny film
(actually!). I play this revved up Cougar woman who is
a TransAm driving sex machine. Fun! To me, men were so
much like this in the ‘Miami Vice’ days of the 80s, so
it was wild to get to play a woman in a fast car and a
racy 80s-esque skirt. I totally rocked her out for us
girls! I just had to!,” said Collins with a trademark
smile.

In addition to Cougar Club, Mo Collins performs her
gutsy and hilariously honest, one-woman show ‘Mo Vs.
Mo’ this Friday at the Upright Citizens Brigade
Theater in Hollywood. Collins’ show is a must-see for
anyone who has ever found themselves in one of life’s
ruts that has caused anxiety, frustration or a
temporary bout of the blues or depression. For most of
the show, Mo is in her favorite pink AC/DC rocker tee
from the 80s, recapturing her ‘carefree
eighties-essence’ with her side-aching, hard hitting
and fearless live performance that is literally a
laugh-a-minute.

To see Collins raising awareness in her unforgettable
one-woman-show, Mo Vs. Mo, about overcoming depression
through a winning mix of honesty and humor live
onstage.

Mo Collins charm and love of the eighties’ fun
attitude, edgy fashion style and boundary-breaking
creativity is reflected in her spirit as a leading
American comedic actress and Angelino ‘everywoman’
star. Perhaps what makes Collins such an inspiration
to women at home watching her on TV and women in
entertainment, art and fashion is the fact that:  a
woman, who has determined to laugh lots, live in truth
and without fear, like how great fashion is still
being reflected like a colorful personality worn on a
woman’s skin, is hot!

Fearless to a fault, Mo Collins is undeniably one such
woman.

Google Introduces New Search Features and Unveils New Homepage Design MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 16, 2007) – Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) today announced its critical first steps toward a universal search model that will offer users a more integrated and comprehensive way to search for and view information online. The company also introduced an updated homepage design and several new navigation features that make it faster and easier for users to find the information they are looking for. “Our focus has always been making our users’ search experience as simple and straightforward as possible,” said Marissa Mayer, vice president of search products and user experience at Google. “The ultimate goal of universal search is to break down the silos of information that exist on the web and provide the very best answer every time a user enters a query. While we still have a long way to go, today’s announcements are a big step in that direction.” Google’s vision for universal search is to ultimately search across all its content sources, compare and rank all the information in real time, and deliver a single, integrated set of search results that offers users precisely what they are looking for. Beginning today, the company will incorporate information from a variety of previously separate sources – including videos, images, news, maps, books, and websites – into a single set of results. At first, universal search results may be subtle. Over time users will recognize additional types of content integrated into their search results as the company advances toward delivering a truly comprehensive search experience. For example, a user searching for information on the Star Wars character Darth Vader is likely interested in all the information related to the character and the actor – not just web pages that mention the movie. Google will now deliver a single set of blended search results that include a humorous parody of the movie, images of the Darth Vader character, news reports on the latest Lucas film, as well as websites focused on the actor James Earl Jones – all ranked in order of relevance to the query. Users no longer have to visit several different Google search properties to find such a wide array of information on the topic. The Power of Google Technology Google is also in the process of deploying a new technical infrastructure that will enable the search engine to handle the computationally intensive tasks required to produce universal search results. The company is also releasing the first stage of an upgraded ranking mechanism that automatically and objectively compares different types of information. As always, Google™ search results are ranked automatically by algorithms to deliver the best results to users anywhere in the world. “Google has continued to concentrate on improving the quality of search,” said Udi Manber, vice president of engineering at Google. “The level and speed of search innovation at Google has increased. Most of this innovation addresses basic ranking algorithms and is often not obvious to users. Users just see more accurate results, more often, in more languages, which is our primary goal.” New Navigation Features New dynamically generated navigation links have been added above the search results to suggest additional information that is relevant to a user’s query. For example, a search for “python” will now generate links to Google Blog Search™, Google Book Search™, Google Groups™, and Google Code™, to let the user know there is additional information on his or her query in each of those areas. As a result, users can find a wider array of information on their topic, including data types they might not have initially considered. Google’s homepage and a number of applications have also been updated with a new navigation bar to provide easier access to popular Google products. Now, instead of having links above the Google.com homepage search box, users will see a navigation bar on the top left side of the page with various Google search properties and popular products including Gmail™, Google Calendar™, Google Docs & Spreadsheets™, and Picasa Web Albums™. Experience the Experiments Google also announced today a new experimental version of its popular search service called Google Experimental™, available on Google Labs™. This new test site provides users an opportunity to try out some of the latest search experiments and innovations and provide Google with feedback. One of the first experiments to be featured on the site enables users to view their search results on a map or timeline. For instance, when someone searches for “Albert Einstein” on Google Experimental, they can choose to view the search results on a map that shows locations mentioned within web pages about Albert Einstein or on a timeline that illustrates the history of Albert Einstein’s life. More information on Google Experimental search is available at Google Labs at http://labs.google.com.

HD DVD Promotional Group Launches National Marketing and Retail Campaigns For Spring Promotion of HD DVD Format

In-cinema trailers expected reach of 30 million consumers on 12,000 screens nationwide; $100 rebate on select Toshiba players bring price to an industry-first $299.99*

The companies supporting HD DVD began spring marketing and retail campaigns in May, running in-cinema trailers to promote the HD DVD format. Playing to record-breaking crowds of consumers in front of some of the summer's biggest blockbusters, including Spiderman 3, the trailers are designed to educate consumers about the quality and value of HD DVD, and will play for four weeks. The trailers showcase the amazing audio and video quality, the stunning interactive features available only on HD DVD, and the incredible line-up of films already on the market.

According to National CineMedia, the number of impressions is expected to reach approximately 30 million viewers. The trailer will run across a network of 932 theaters and on 12,000 screens nationwide, including the top three movie theater chains Regal, AMC and Cinemark.

To augment the trailer campaign, Toshiba is offering a one month promotion for an instant, in-store rebate on select HD DVD players, bringing the price of some models down to an industry-first $299.99*. Beginning May 20th, 2007, consumers buying a Toshiba HD-A2 model player will receive an immediate $100 instant rebate in store, for an attractive price of $299.99*.

During the final week of the rebate period, from June 10th through June 16th, 2007, Toshiba will increase the incentive for consumers to enjoy high definition. Consumers can apply the $100 rebate to any Toshiba HD DVD player, resulting in prices of $299.99* for the HD-A2 or $399.99* for the HD-A20 models. Or consumers can buy any Toshiba HDTV 42" and over (measured diagonally) along with any Toshiba HD DVD player and receive an instant $200 rebate in store on the collective purchase.

Consumers who purchase any Toshiba HD DVD player can also get five HD DVD titles for free, choosing from a selection of 15 movies. This offer is available through July 31, 2007 and in conjunction with the previously listed promotion and rebate -- full offer details are available at www.toshibahddvd.com.

"HD DVD is an evolution of the DVD format into high definition, but the format offers much more, so educating consumers on the quality and new features is an important step as more households purchase high definition televisions," said Jodi Sally, vice president of marketing at Toshiba America Consumer Products. "We know that price is a powerful driver for consumers to adopt new technology, which is why our rebate promotion is a great incentive to bring cinema-quality, high definition movies into your home today."

The rebate will be available across a wide range of retailers, including Best Buy, Circuit City, HHGregg, Amazon.com and many others. The marketing and retail campaigns will also coincide with the Warner Home Video release of The Complete Matrix Trilogy and Letters from Iwo Jima, and the Paramount Home Entertainment release of Flags of Our Fathers on May 22nd, and will be supported by a multi-million dollar advertising campaign incorporating TV, online, newspaper, and radio.

*MSRP on Toshiba HD DVD Player models: (HD-A2) $399.99, (HD-A20) $499.99 and (HD-XA2) $799.99.

Instant rebate offer available only at participating retailers.

Sara Snow Walks the 'Green Carpet' to Show Americans How to Power Up Naturally in a New Episode of GET FRESH WITH SARA SNOW on Discovery Health

--Penelope Cruz, Orlando Bloom, Chevy Chase and British Rock Band Gomez Talk to Sara About Importance of EcoPower in Episode of GET FRESH WITH SARA SNOW Premiering Thursday, May 24, at 8 PM ET/PT --

-- America's dependence on fossil fuels for energy is one of the major contributors to the greenhouse gases that continue to heat up planet Earth and pollute the air and water. According to an article in The New Yorker (January 22, 2007, pp. 34-35), Americans will consume close to 4 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity and burn through 43 billion gallons of gasoline - at a cost of more than a quadrillion dollars.

In a new eye-opening world premiere episode of Discovery Health's green living series, GET FRESH WITH SARA SNOW: Eco Power (Thursday, May 24, at 8 PM ET/PT), natural living expert Sara Snow explores how some people are making a difference by changing their energy consumption habits, and illustrates some simple steps Americans can take today to make a change. This celebrity-packed episode kicks off as Sara boards the bio-fueled tour bus of British rock band Gomez. A group that jumped on the "green bandwagon" by offsetting the amount of carbon dioxide emitted to run each of their concerts, Gomez not only contributes to companies that make clean energy, such as Native Energy - a company that builds new wind-energy turbines for South Dakota and Alaska - but Gomez fans can pay an additional $.40 on the price of their ticket to have travel emissions to the concert offset through the Music Today ticketing website. More than 50 percent of Gomez fans opt in; the $.40 cost is a calculation of pounds of carbon dioxide used by two people traveling an average distance. Sara talks to Gomez about their other eco-friendly practices, including --

-- Using bio-diesel to fuel their tour bus;

-- Minimizing the idling of their bus when not in use;

-- Using recycled paper and soy-based inks for printed materials;

-- Providing organic cotton merchandise options for their fans;

-- Requesting organic food backstage at all shows; and

-- Staying at hotels identified as more sustainable.

Sara then speaks with Dean Devlin, the executive producer of the documentary film Who Killed The Electric Car, and the film's director, Chris Paine. This documentary explores why the electric car failed to break into the American car market. After a testing period in which automakers leased a limited number of vehicles, all were pulled by 1996, despite passionate consumer interest. Now, these cars are making a comeback. With a star-studded debut at Global Green's Pre-Oscar Party in Los Angeles, Tesla's new electric sports car made an appearance on the "green carpet," and Sara and the GET FRESH crew were there to take a test drive. While on the green carpet, Sara speaks to stars, including Penelope Cruz, Orlando Bloom, Cote de Pablo, Chevy Chase and more, about why they support alternative transportation and how they use their celebrity fame to encourage others to make changes.

In GET FRESH (Thursdays at 8 PM ET/PT), Sara reveals the secrets of making wholesome, green living accessible for today's hectic lifestyles by providing easy-to-execute steps for creating healthier lives for you, your family and generations to come. Sara encourages viewers to develop responsible and sustainable lifestyle habits by sharing the long-term and short-term benefits of green living practices such as cooking with natural and organic foods, using green cleaning products, wearing eco-friendly clothes and exploring alternative types of transportation. Equally important, Sara empowers her audience by providing it with the blueprint for adopting each step into everyday life in a manner that is user-friendly and easily to implement.

GET FRESH WITH SARA SNOW is produced for Discovery Health by Engel Entertainment. Steve Engel is executive producer; Christine Shuler is series producer. Wendy Douglas is executive producer for Discovery Health.

Paramount Home Entertainment & Warner Home Video to Celebrate Elvis Presley August 7

24 Films Include WHV's New Editions of Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas, Elvis: That's the Way It Is, Along With the DVD Debut of This is Elvis, and the Elvis Hollywood Collection With Six New-to-DVD Titles Plus PHE's Lights! Camera! Elvis! Collection

May. 15, 2007 On August 7, Warner Home Video (WHV) and Paramount Home Entertainment (PHE) will again join forces, this time to celebrate the life of Elvis Presley, and commemorate the 30th anniversary of "The King's" passing. The man who made blue suede shoes, hound dogs and hip swivels an indelible part of America's pop culture will come alive again as the two studios pool their DVD sales and marketing resources to release a total of 24 Elvis Presley films. The lead WHV titles in the promotion are Deluxe Editions of Viva Las Vegas and Jailhouse Rock and 2 Disc Special Editions of Elvis: That's the Way It Is and This is Elvis (making its DVD debut). The lead Paramount offering is the Lights! Camera! Elvis! Collection presented in a collectible blue suede case.

A series of major events honoring this rock 'n' roll icon are being planned throughout this year, the highlight of which is 'Elvis Week 2007,' taking place in Memphis from August 11 through August 18. As part of the festivities, Warner Home Video will be collaborating with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE) on two "Elvis Music and Movies" nights on the grounds of Graceland Mansion, with outdoor screenings of Viva Las Vegas on August 13 and Elvis: That's the Way It Is on August 14. WHV also will have a promotional presence at other Elvis Week events presented by EPE, including the Elvis Insiders Conference, "Elvis: The 30th Anniversary Concert" and the "Elvis: Midnight in Vegas Concert." This year's Elvis Week, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of Elvis' passing, is expected to be the biggest edition of the annual celebration of Elvis' life and legacy to date. For all the details visit http://www.ElvisWeek.com.

WHV also will debut Elvis: The Hollywood Collection, containing six Elvis films never before on DVD - Charro, Girl Happy, Kissin' Cousins, Stay Away, Joe, Tickle Me and Live a Little, Love a Little. The films will be available as a set, as well as individually.

PHE is packaging eight classic Presley titles in a collectible blue suede case. The Lights! Camera! Elvis! Collection will include King Creole, G.I. Blues, Blue Hawaii, Roustabout, Girls! Girls! Girls!, Fun in Acapulco, Paradise, Hawaiian Style and Easy Come, Easy Go. Considered by many to be Elvis' finest acting performance, King Creole was also Elvis' personal favorite of all his films and was directed by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca). G.I. Blues was the first film that Elvis made after returning from his stint in the army and features the all-time classic song "Blue Suede Shoes". Elvis' highest grossing film, Blue Hawaii, was filmed in part on location in the Hawaiian Islands, as were Girls! Girls! Girls!, which was nominated for a Golden Globe(R) for Best Motion Picture--Musical, and Paradise, Hawaiian Style. Elvis co-starred with a string of notable actresses including Ursula Andress in Fun in Acapulco, Barbara Stanwyck in Roustabout and Elsa Lanchester (best known for her role in Bride of Frankenstein) in Easy Come, Easy Go. All eight must-own titles are packaged together for the first time and feature sensational musical performances of beloved songs including "Hard Headed Woman," "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "Return to Sender."

Voted the Third Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Artist of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine (after the Beatles and Bob Dylan), Elvis Presley (1935 - 1977) was also one of Hollywood's top box-office draws, starring in 31 feature films and two theatrically released concert documentaries over the course of his career. "The King's" music was as much a part of his box-office success as his good looks and charisma. In fact, some of his top-selling songs were from the movie soundtracks. Eleven of his soundtrack albums made it into the top ten on the Billboard Album charts and of those, four became number one hits.

It is estimated that Elvis has sold over a billion records worldwide, more records than any other artist in record industry history, and even 30 years after his death, Elvis still conquers new legions of fans as recent compilations of his RCA recordings, "Elvis 30 #1 Hits" and "Elvis 2nd to None," both topped the Billboard charts of best-selling albums.

Academy/UCLA Documentaries Series Concludes with Stories out of Africa

Beverly Hills, CA — The documentary short subject “God Sleeps in Rwanda” and the documentary feature “Darwin’s Nightmare,” which both earned Oscar® nominations in 2005, will be screened on Wednesday, June 6, as the final installment in the 2006–2007 Contemporary Documentaries series, presented by the Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the UCLA Film & Television Archive. The screenings will begin at 7 p.m. at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. Admission is free.

Directed and produced by Kimberlee Acquaro and Stacy Sherman, “God Sleeps in Rwanda” follows five women as they rebuild their lives, redefine their roles in society and bring hope to a nation that was left nearly 70 percent female as a result of the 1994 genocide. The film is both a harsh reminder of the Rwandan tragedy and a tribute to the strength of those who survived. Acquaro and Sherman will be present at the screening to discuss the film and take questions from the audience.

“Darwin’s Nightmare” explores the impact of the Nile perch, a predator so voracious that it has nearly extinguished the entire stock of native fish species in Lake Victoria. Yet because of its prized white fillets, the destructive fish resides at the center of a booming multinational food industry that trades food for weapons, producing an ungodly alliance between African ministers, European Union commissioners, Russian pilots, Indian factory owners, native fishermen and Tanzanian prostitutes. The film was directed by Hubert Sauper and produced by Edouard Mauriat, Anne-Cécile Berthomeau, Antonin Svoboda, Martin Gschlacht, Barbara Albert and Hubert Toint.

The screenings are free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. The Linwood Dunn Theater is located at the Academy’s Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study, 1313 Vine Street, at the northwest corner of Fountain Avenue and Vine Street in Hollywood. Parking is available behind the building through the entrance on Homewood Avenue, one block north of Fountain. For more information, call (310) 247-3600 or (310) 206-FILM.

Star Wars, Celebrating 30th Anniversary of Release, Has Roots in Ancient Mythology

-- "The Star Wars films, especially the original trilogy, clearly reflect many of the deathless themes of ancient Greek and Roman mythology," says Carl Rubino, a Hamilton College classics professor. May 25 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars.

Rubino explains, "Heroes with doubtful parentage and no place to settle down, tutors with mysterious powers, immense journeys that represent whole lifetimes, the endless struggle against disorder and violence -- all these are familiar to readers of the Iliad, Odyssey, and Aeneid."

The concept of destiny also plays a key role in the films, according to Rubino. "At the climactic moment of Return of the Jedi, the emperor utters some telling words to Luke Skywalker. 'It is your destiny,' he says, by which he means that the young man is fated to serve the Empire. Others in the film - - Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and his tutor Yoda -- also speak of Luke's destiny, in various and sometimes opposing ways. Luke Skywalker, like the Roman hero Aeneas, is clearly someone who is haunted by destiny. But unlike Aeneas, Luke, who remains an American hero, seems to have the power to chose his destiny," Rubino says.

"'It is your destiny.' Young men and boys of the Roman ruling class heard much the same words from their fathers, grandfathers, teachers, and, perhaps especially, from their mothers. The notion of destiny played an essential role in their lives and the lives of their families. Their destiny, like that of their ancestors before them, was to serve and advance the fortunes of Rome," according to Rubino.

Carl Rubino is Edward North Professor of Classics at Hamilton College. Rubino was interviewed for a Lucas film documentary, Star Wars: Legacy, which will premiere on the History Channel in 2007. He will discuss Star Wars' roots in mythology. He has published and lectured extensively on ancient Greek and Roman literature, comparative literature, philosophy, and literary theory. A long-time collaborator of the late physicist Ilya Prigogine, he has also written on the links between science and the humanities, where his work has focused on complexity theory, the problem of time, and the impact of the theory of evolution upon ethics.

-- Lifetime Movie Network (LMN), The Hollywood Reporter, New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT), William Morris Agency and Women In Film today launched the LMN Student Filmmaker Competition, a national competition designed to encourage and discover the next generation of female filmmakers. Judged by an elite panel of producers, directors, executives and actors from the Hollywood community, the competition will select outstanding short films produced by female film students from across the country.

Judges include: Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett; Lauren Shuler Donner, prolific producer of hits such as the "X-Men" movies and "You've Got Mail"; Gale Anne Hurd, producer of box office favorites like "The Terminator" movies; Mimi Leder, veteran director of television series like "ER" and "L.A. Law"; actress and producer Jennifer Lopez; Catherine Olim, PMK/HBH, Inc. publicist; and a representative from each of the partner organizations. The contest is open to all female film students, including executive producers, producers, writers, cinematographers and editors.

In making the announcement, Louise Henry Bryson, Executive Vice President & General Manager, LMN, said, "As the second most popular women's network behind Lifetime Television, LMN is very excited to offer this amazing opportunity to the next class of women filmmakers. In 2005, women comprised 17% of all directors, executive producers, producers, writers, cinematographers and editors working on the top 250 domestic grossing films. This is the same percentage of women employed in these roles in 1998.*Through this competition, we hope to grow that percentage by helping to find the next great women filmmakers who will make important contributions to the Hollywood community."

The first and second place winners will have the opportunity to screen their films at a special program curated by NYWIFT at the 2007 Hamptons International Film Festival in October and honored with a reception afterwards. They will also be invited to attend the 2007 Women in Entertainment Power 100 Breakfast hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Lifetime Networks in December.

The winning films will be featured on-air on LMN and will be shown in their entirety on LMN's website, www.lmn.tv. Additionally, the first and second place winners as well as two runners-up will receive cash prizes and will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the William Morris Agency.

Paula Parisi, Vice President & Executive Editor, The Hollywood Reporter, said, "Throughout the history of film, there have been women making their mark behind the camera, but not in numbers commensurate with their representation in other areas of the business. We're proud to be part of Lifetime's efforts to bring more talented women to the attention of people with decision-making power."

Terry Lawler, Executive Director, NYWIFT, said "One of New York Women in Film & Television's mandates is to support, encourage and nurture the next generation of directors, producers, writers, executives and below-the-line craftspersons. If NYWIFT and its sister chapters in the U.S. and abroad are going to achieve their goal of equity in the entertainment field, more women have to be trained and skilled in all facets of the industry. We salute LMN and its partners in undertaking this endeavor. It will help bring our goal of equity to fruition."

"The Hamptons International Film Festival is thrilled to showcase the winners of the LMN Student Filmmaker Competition at our 15th edition," said Gianna Chachere, Festival Director. "In conjunction with New York Women in Film & Television, we are celebrating our 5th year of spotlighting female filmmakers and will continue to promote women in the entertainment industry for years to come."

Linkin Park Celebrates New Album Release with Fans in Virtual MTV on Wednesday, May 16th

-- Linkin Park's long-awaited third album "Minutes to Midnight" hits store shelves today, and tomorrow members of the band will host a virtual party within Virtual MTV (vMTV) to meet with their fans and discuss their latest project.

Vocalist Chester Bennington and other band members will make special appearances at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, May 16th in vMTV's virtual version of Club Hyde, the trendy Hollywood Hills hotspot. To join the party, fans simply need to go to http://www.vmtv.com/, download the free application, create their own stylized avatar and head over to the club to meet Bennington.

vMTV from MTV Networks' Music Group is a collection of popular virtual worlds that bridge the gap between television programming and emerging virtual world space. With Virtual Laguna Beach, Virtual Hills and now Virtual Pimp My Ride, viewers can instantly transport themselves to the sun-kissed beaches of Laguna Beach, crash the hot party scene in the Hollywood Hills or visit the hotbed of car culture in Van Nuys, Calif. to "live" the lifestyle they see on- air, hang out with their favorite cast members, meet their favorite artists or simply recreate their own drama in-world.

Bennington will be represented in vMTV by a specially created avatar, allowing him to interact one-on-one with their fans around the world in an environment that replicates one of the hottest scenes in Hollywood, and will be joined by another band member in-world. The approach in vMTV represents just one of the new ways forward-thinking bands like Linkin Park are connecting with their fans.

Linkin Park's vMTV appearance follows the February appearance by the revolutionary alternative rock band KoRN, which hosted a virtual record release party in support of their latest project, "MTV Unplugged: KoRn."

Linkin Park is Chester Bennington (vocals), Rob Bourdon (drums), Brad Delson (guitar), Joe Hahn (DJ), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), and Mike Shinoda (vocals). They have earned two Grammy Awards, the first for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 with their hit single "Crawling" and the second for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z in 2006 for the innovative "Numb/Encore." Linkin Park has sold 40 million records worldwide since their debut in 2000. The Diamond-Certified Hybrid Theory has alone sold more than 18 million copies, and the single "In the End" earned the band the Best Rock Video at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. Linkin Park's sophomore album, "Meteora," continued the momentum, with the single "Somewhere I Belong" capturing Best Rock Video at the 2003 MTV VMAs and "Breaking the Habit" capturing the Viewer's Choice Award at the 2004 MTV VMAs. "Minutes to Midnight," available everywhere, is the third album from Linkin Park.

MTV Networks Music Group Announces Exclusive Deal With Gain Ltd. for Upcoming New Media Comic Book Projects

MTV Networks Music Group, a unit of Viacom's (NYSE:VIA) (NYSE:VIA.B) MTV Networks, today announced an exclusive deal with Gain Ltd, creators of the proprietary system "Bomb-xx" that develops extremely engaging audio-visual experiences, to develop new media versions of comic books, graphic novels and children's books. Each experience will be customized across multiple media screens, including computers, portable video players, portable and console gaming devices, and mobile phones. Gain Ltd was co-founded by Jeff Shuter and Daniel Viney.

"Some of the best characters and stories come from comics and graphic novels, but until now distribution channels have been very limited," said David Gale, Executive Vice President, New Media for MTV Networks. "Gain combines the original format of comic books, graphic novels and children's books with the emotional excitement of a great movie that fans can see on-the-go or on-demand, but always in high-quality."

MTV Networks Music Group's vast array of television and digital platforms will allow for extensive distribution of Gain's unique content, beginning with MTV. Various projects will bring together comic book publishers, creators and distributors to create and market existing and original content produced to maximize distribution and build a broader fan base from the traditional niche market for comics and graphic novels. In addition, forthcoming projects will be distributed across other new media formats outside of the MTV Networks' brands.

"Comic books historically have ignited people's imagination and intuition to piece together and decode the story as it unfolds on each page," said Daniel Viney, co-founder, producer and creator, Gain Enterprises. "Our mission has always been to curate new proprietary formats that enhance the user experience and spur even more intrigue in the story."

"What's unique to our product is that each experience is highly music- based with animation that is much like choreography to a dance," added Jeff Shuter, co-founder, producer and creator, Gain Enterprises. "Every moment and beat is highly charged to keep fans engaged in the storyline. The goal is to transcend the conventional comic book experience and we are excited to work with MTV Networks to continue forming connections between the traditional comic book and new media worlds for the benefit of audiences everywhere."

Gain founders, Viney and Shuter, made their mark with their "Bomb-xx" adaptations of comics for major movie studios, including Fox Atomic's first film "Turistas" and the recent "28 Weeks Later," as well as Lions Gate's "Saw 2." Gain also created original works for the Weinstein Company's movies "Arthur and the Invisibles" and "The Protector," and an adaptation of Marvel Comics' "Ultimate Spiderman."

Gain Enterprises was co-founded by Jeff Shuter and Daniel Viney with the mission to develop hybrid forms of content and entertainment for the new media space. Both Shuter and Viney serve as lead producers and creators.
