Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre Starts 2007 on a 'Cher-ee' Note With Return Engagement of Walt Disney's Sing-A-Long 'Mary Poppins' From 1/11-31; Oscar(R) Winner Richard Sherman to Host Opening Night Event
Jan. 2 Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre will sing in the New Year with a special return engagement of the Sing-A-Long version of Walt Disney's classic "Mary Poppins," from January 11th through the 31st, it was announced today (January 2, 2007) by Lylle Breier, senior vice president of worldwide special events for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. The film will be projected digitally using fully restored film elements and a re-mastered soundtrack featuring state-of-the-art audio technology. Audiences are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters from the film, and to lend their voices to the classic soundtrack (as the words to the songs are projected up on the screen). Each performance will include a live appearance by Mary Poppins herself. As an added bonus for the opening night show, (Thursday, January 11th at 6:30 pm), Academy Award(R)-winning songwriter Richard Sherman (who wrote the songs with his brother, Robert Sherman) will introduce the film and perform some of his classic tunes from the film. Daily showtimes are 10:00 am, 1:10 pm, 4:20 pm, 7:30 pm (plus 10:15 pm on Friday and Saturday nights only). Originally released in 1964, "Mary Poppins" represented the pinnacle of Walt Disney's filmmaking and storytelling career, and the film went on to receive a supercalifragilistic 13 Oscar(R) nominations. It won Academy Awards(R) for Best Actress (Julie Andrews), Best Song ("Chim Chim Cher-ee"), Best Musical Score, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects. Based on the classic characters and stories of P. L. Red Hot Chili Peppers Spice Up Disneyland Resort
Music from the Grammy-nominated group and special effects create all-new rockin' experiences at Space Mountain and California Screamin' for a limited time
Calif., Dec. 28 Red Hot Chili Peppers, recently nominated for six Grammy awards, are red hot and their music will temporarily transform Space Mountain at Disneyland and California Screamin' at Disney's California Adventure into new rock n' roll adventures. As part of the "Year of A Million Dreams" celebration at Disneyland Resort, rock fans' dreams will come true as "Rockin' Both Parks" provides new special effects and soundtracks specifically remixed to heighten every twist, turn, rise and drop of each thrilling attraction.
For a limited time (from January 3 through April 26, 2007), guests will experience Space Mountain like never before. The high-speed interstellar adventure, that has captivated Disneyland guests since the 1970s, will temporarily have an all-new twist. Rockin' Space Mountain fans will find the attraction sporting new technology that features illuminated dancing rock fans, more than 200 lights brightening the track and a brand-new, customized soundtrack by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band's famous song, "Higher Ground," which was a 1989 hit version of the Stevie Wonder original tune, will create an out-of-this-world rock adventure. Along with new technology and lighting, all systems are a go.
Riders of Rockin' California Screamin' at Disney's California Adventure will also twist and turn to a new soundtrack. With a specially customized version of Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1999 hit "Around the World," guests will rock through the attraction's 6,000 feet of track. The four-minute ride is the world's longest steel looping roller coaster and takes guests from zero to 55 miles per hour in just four seconds.
The new soundtracks for both attractions were remixed by Ryan Hewitt, the man who remixes the Red Hot Chili Peppers' own music, to ensure the soundtracks are specific to the twists and turns, highs and lows of both roller coasters.
Rockin' Space Mountain and Rockin' California Screamin' are just some of the highlights of the "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration that began at Disneyland Resort in Southern California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on October 1. Disneyland Welcomes Rose Bowl-Bound Southern California and Michigan Football Teams Tuesday, December 26
Young Fans Will Ride Matterhorn Bobsleds With U.S.C. and Michigan Players as 'Year of a Million Dreams' Treat
Dec. 21 Now that the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan have won berths in the 2007 Rose Bowl Game(R) in Pasadena, what are they going to do next? They're going to Disneyland. And they'll celebrate the Disneyland "Year of a Million Dreams" in a special way with some deserving young football fans.
Mickey Mouse, the Disneyland Band and fans will welcome the two squads and their coaches when the teams make their first official appearance of the Rose Bowl season at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, at Disneyland. USC Trojans Coach Pete Carroll, Michigan Wolverines Coach Lloyd Carr, and members of both teams will be available for interviews in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Among the featured players will be USC Quarterback John David Booty, USC Wide Receiver Dwayne Jarrett, Michigan Tailback Mike Hart and Michigan Defensive End LaMarr Woodley.
One highlight of the visit will be a Year of a Million Dreams opportunity for visiting children from Foothill Family Services, Pasadena, to meet USC and Michigan players and take a ride with them on the Matterhorn Bobsleds.
Disneyland has been associated with the Tournament of Roses since 1959 and has had the honor of hosting many teams during that time. This year's team visits coincide with the "Year of a Million Dreams," which began on October 1 at Disney Parks in the United States. For 15 months, the Resort will celebrate dreams coming true, making literally millions of dreams, large and small, come true for eligible guests. "Year of a Million Dreams" continues throughout 2007.
The Trojans (10-2 overall) and the Wolverines (11-1 overall) will meet in the 93rd Rose Bowl game played in Pasadena on Monday, January 1, 2007.

Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment to Roll out More Blu-Ray Discs in February 2007
Titles Include The Prestige, Ladder 49 and Reign of Fire
Dec. 19, 2006 Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment (BVWHE) President Bob Chapek today announced BVWHE's second wave of Blu-ray Disc(R) releases for 2007. Titles will include Ladder 49 (50GB) and Reign of Fire, which will be in stores on February 13, and The Prestige (50GB) which will be available day-and-date with DVD on February 20. Most Blu-ray(TM) titles from BVWHE will be available for $34.99 SRP.
Commenting on the announcement, Chapek stated, "Buena Vista's Blu-ray discs continue to draw critical raves for both their cutting edge delivery and innovative features. I'm confident the visual and audio experience of these new titles will be unsurpassed."

Dec. 19, 2006 As holiday festivities near, shoppers across the U.S. have made it clear Disney (NYSE:DIS) is at the top of their lists. Posting double digit growth in retail sales over 2005, Disney products such as the Disney Mix Max media player and toys and electronics inspired by Disney*Pixar's Cars, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Little Mermaid have posted strong sales at key retailers such as Target and Toys 'R' Us and online at DisneyShopping.com. Surprise best-sellers have also emerged such as the Disney Pix line of digital cameras and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Playset -- both of which have sold out several times this season.
Sales of electronics and toys continued to top retail trends and have been a driving force behind Disney's holiday success. Just launched in October, the Disney Mix Max media player which plays full length movies, CDs and jpegs on a 2.2 LCD screen has outpaced sales projections both internally and at retail. Disney also expanded its line of digital media players this year featuring an upgraded version of the Disney Mix Stick MP3 player which has doubled in retail sales this holiday season over prior year. With a new roster of digital product offerings, Disney quickly climbed to the top of the market and ranks as the #3 flash-based MP3 brand by unit volume in the mass market for the month of November, according to research from NPD Inc. The Disney Pix line of digital cameras took Disney and retailers by surprise selling more than 150,000 units at Best Buy and Toys R Us since its introduction in the fall and selling out as quickly as shelves were re-stocked.
Millions of Disney toys have also been checked off the list. The National Retail Federation estimates that 48 percent of consumers will buy toys this holiday season, and has named Disney Princess and The Little Mermaid among the season's Top 10 toys for girls. In celebration of the October Platinum Edition DVD release of The Little Mermaid, more than 2,500 Little Mermaid products are now available at retail with such best-sellers as The Little Mermaid Magical Talking Salon. Overall, Little Mermaid products have exceeded sales projections at retail surpassing the success of a similar program inspired by Cinderella's Platinum Edition DVD last year. For preschoolers, toys based on the popular Disney Channel series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse have taken off at retail, among the most popular are the singing plush Name That Song Mickey and the nearly sold-out Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Playset.
With recent DVD releases, products inspired by Disney*Pixar's Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest have been flying off shelves. Mattel die cast cars featuring characters from the film have sold more than 27 million units to date. Cars party assortment from Hallmark ranks as the #1 best-selling within the industry. The book Cars: Interactive Play a Sound from Publications International tops Target's holiday gift guide for boys and has posted strong sales across retailers. Disney bedding has also experienced triple digit growth thanks to new Cars and Little Mermaid patterns introduced this fall at retailers such as Kmart. Demand for Pirates products soared as the DVD broke all records selling 10.5 million copies in its first week. Among the best-sellers are character action figures and the Ultimate Black Pearl Playset from Zizzle. From Buena Vista Games, Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean ranked among the Top 10 GBA titles in retail sales for the month of November.
For tweens, the Hannah Montana video game for the Nintendo DS shot to the top within weeks of its debut ranking #13 among such Nintendo DS hits as Sim Pets 2 and Final Fantasy III. The new line of Hannah Montana apparel and accessories has also experienced phenomenal sell-through at Macy's. While Mattel's High School Musical DVD board game is proving to be a must-have topping Toys R Us' Season's Surprise Hits list. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer from Hyperion Books for Children, the 5th title in the worldwide best-selling Artemis Fowl series, has propelled sales of the entire series at retail and created momentum that has the series remaining among the top books on the New York Times best seller list throughout the holiday season. The series has sold over 8 million units in the US since its 2001 launch.
