Vivendi Games Mobile's SWAT Force(R) Wins Best Wireless Game at Spike TV Video Game Awards

Dec. 12  Vivendi Games Mobile, a division of Vivendi Games, scored a major win at the 4th annual Spike TV Video Game Awards held on Friday, December 8th in Los Angeles. Less than a year into its emergence as a global games publisher for mobile phones, Vivendi Games Mobile won the Best Wireless Game award for its shooter action title SWAT Force, beating out contenders Diner Dash, Tower Bloxx and Super K.O. Boxing.

"I can't think of a better way for Vivendi Games Mobile to celebrate its successful entry into the business," said Paul Maglione, president of Vivendi Games Mobile. "The quality of our games is being recognized across our entire slate of titles, but to receive this special acknowledgement for SWAT is indeed an honor. We look forward to building the SWAT franchise and evolving the title to deliver an even better game for mobile devices worldwide."

Virginie Grange, director of Corporate Business Development for Vivendi Games Mobile, accepted the Spike TV Video Game award and gave a brief acceptance speech. "This award is a great validation for Vivendi Games Mobile and its ability to successfully translate popular video game franchises such as SWAT into a superlative mobile game."

Over the course of 2006, SWAT Force has racked up accolades from major game reviewers, including a Mobie Award nomination from CNET Networks Games & Entertainment and an IGN Editor's Choice Award. In its review, IGN stated, "SWAT Force is one of the better PC-to-mobile games we have played." SWAT Force is currently available to Cingular Wireless, Sprint Wireless, and Amp'd Mobile customers in the US, and will soon be available to Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile customers as well. SWAT Force has also launched on mobile carriers throughout Europe.

Actor Samuel L. Jackson hosted this year's Spike TV Video Game awards event, which featured performances by Tenacious D and AFI, and special guest appearances by 50 Cent, Tyrese, Heroes' stars Hayden Panettiere and Masi Oka, Eva Mendez, Rachel Leigh Cook, Sarah Silverman, and others. The Spike TV Video Game Awards broadcast will debut this Wednesday, 12/13, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

About SWAT Force(R)

SWAT, or Special Weapons and Tactics, is Los Angeles' elite rapid intervention police force. It is specially trained and equipped to deal with the most dangerous urban crisis situations: hostage situations, armed robberies and bomb threats. Based on the popular PC franchise published by Vivendi Games, SWAT Force has faithfully translated the tactical police action to mobile.

SWAT Force puts you in the shoes of a SWAT squad leader. Take tactical control of a 2-man SWAT squad and lead them through seven authentic crisis situations. Choose the equipment and tactics for both your sharpshooter and your explosives expert. Use each one at the appropriate moment and defuse the traps that lie in your way. Remember that your ultimate goal is to protect life and not necessarily to shoot to kill. The game, developed by Kaolink, offers detailed animation and an intuitive control scheme that makes the gameplay experience highly rewarding.

Brandon Routh

Routh, pronounced like "south", was born in Des Moines, Iowa and grew up in nearby Norwalk. He attended the University of Iowa and starred in many productions at the Norwalk Theater of Performing Arts. His first professional acting role was in the ABC television series "Odd Man Out" (1999), and he went on to guest star in the series "Gilmore Girls" (2000) and "Undressed" (1999). In his spare time, Routh enjoys playing soccer and basketball, swimming, biking and reading.

Went as Clark Kent/Superman for a Halloween party in 2003 and won a costume contest, only to receive the movie role one year later.

Dressed up as Batman for Halloween 2004.

His brother is a "real-life Superman" - a police officer in Des Moines

Attended the University of Iowa

After being cast as Superman for Superman Returns (2006), he sought out a movement coach to help him create the proper body language for the Superman character.

Parents are Ron and Katie.

Unlike fellow Superman actors Christopher Reeve and Tom Welling, he is a huge Superman fan. As a kid, he collected the comics, owned the films, and even wore Superman pajamas.

Frequently says that the only good thing that came of his several years of struggling to find success in Hollywood was meeting his long-time girlfriend, Courtney Ford, in a coffee-shop after another failed audition. They became engaged in August, 2006.

Attended the International Model and Talent Association (IMTA).

Engaged to Courtney Ford [August 23, 2006].

Cites "Braveheart" as his all time favorite film.

MASI OKA

Graduated from Brown University in 1997 with a degree in Computer Science.

He has a 180-plus IQ.

Was featured on the cover of Time Magazine as a child.

Name is pronounced as "mah-see".

When he was 12, he was on the cover of the August 31, 1987 issue of Time magazine titled "Those Asian-American Whiz Kids".

In an interview with TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, he said that as of November 2006, he still works one or two days a week as a CGI artist for George Lucas' special effects company Industrial Light & Magic (at which Oka worked on the effects for such films as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, War of the Worlds, the three most recent Star Wars movies, and The Perfect Storm). He also still drives his old car, a 2000 Honda Accord.

DANIEL DAE KIM

He holds an M.F.A. from the Graduate Acting program at New York University.

Son born in 1996.

He has said that playing "Jin" on "Lost" (2005) is a relief to him because he is finally playing someone of his own heritage (Korean), having been cast as characters of almost every other Asian heritage but his own.

Due to his childhood in America, Daniel knew very little Korean before he did "Lost". He has said that his co-star on that show Yunjin Kim, who is fluent in both English and Korean, has been invaluable in coaching him on his Korean, which has apparently improved. Ironically, to the audience's knowledge, Daniel's character knows nothing but Korean.

Grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College/Bryn Mawr College in Theatre & Political Science.

His acting heroes are Paul Scofield, Gene Hackman, Robert De Niro, Sidney Poitier, Gene Kelly, Denzel Washington, Robert Duvall and, his favorite, Jonathan Pryce.

While getting small parts in plays and writing and performing in an improv comedy group, he seriously considered a career in investment banking.

He attended Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the same high school as Dwayne Johnson - "The Rock"

He was included on People Magazine's list of the sexiest men alive in 2005. Matthew McConaughey topped the list.

Tila Tequila

Born in Singapore, Tila 'Tequila' Nguyen has become a pop culture sensation. The Houston native is today one of the most popular personalities in cyberspace, breaking records on the ultra-successful MySpace.com website, with a record breaking 1.4 million friends.

Raised in a Buddhist temple, the Vietnamese teenager soon rebelled against her strict upbringing, developing into an out-spoken tomboy before being discovered by international magazine editors. Since then, this Texan beauty has graced the covers of numerous magazines including Maxim UK and Stuff, was recently listed on Maxim Magazine's 'Hot 100' list for 2006, and is featured in Rolling Stone's 2006 'Hot Issue'.

A musician at heart, Tila's much anticipated debut release will be out later this fall, after finishing in the studio with platinum and multi-platinum producers such as Lil Jon, Junior Sanchez and DJ Lethal.

A versatile artist, Tila has made numerous television and film appearances, including an upcoming cameo opposite Adam Sandler in the Universal Pictures feature "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry."

Her 'Tequila' nickname originates from a near fatal drinking experience. Ironically, Tila is allergic to alcohol.

Rachael Leigh Cook

Minneapolis native Rachael Leigh Cook began her career as a model at the tender age of 10, gracing Milk-Bone(R) boxes and Target(R) ads nationwide. She also appeared in a now-famous anti-drug TV spot in which, armed with a frying pan, she bashed her way through a kitchen to show the disastrous effects of heroin. At 14, her modeling agency sent her to read for a short film (26 Summer Street (1996)) and changed the course of her young life--from that moment on, Cook was hooked on acting. When she reached L.A. later that year, Cook bypassed the wannabe stage and nailed her first audition (for the part of a budding entrepreneur in The Baby-Sitters Club (1995)). She returned to theaters three months later in the Jonathan Taylor Thomas vehicle Tom and Huck (1995), then filled her calendar with appearances in independent and made-for-TV movies. She divided her time between Minneapolis and Tinseltown, shuttling from school events to movie shoots with her mother in tow. Cook's starlet status crystallized in 1999, when she starred opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. in the Pygmalion retelling She's All That (1999). Her on-screen transformation from ugly duckling to ravishing beauty scored several teen-oriented awards and made Cook a hot commodity in Hollywood. She signed for a handful of plum follow-up roles, including a troubled adolescent in Sylvester Stallone's Get Carter (2000), a frontier gal in Texas Rangers (2001), and the caterwauling lead in the live-action version of Josie and the Pussycats (2001). Cook now lives primarily in Los Angeles, but she returns home frequently to visit with friends and family. Her father, Tom (a former stand-up comic), is a social worker in the public school system, and her younger brother, Ben, is an aspiring filmmaker.

Cast of Family Guy

Seth MacFarlane was born in the small New England town of Kent, Connecticut where he lived with his father (Ron), mother (Perry) and sister (Rachael). He attended and studied animation at the Rhode Island School of Design and after he graduated he was hired by Hanna-Barbera Productions (Now called Cartoon Network Studios) working as an animator and writer on the TV series Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken. He also worked for Walt Disney Animation as a writer on the TV series Jungle Cubs. He created The Life of Larry (1995) which was originally supposed to be used as an in-between on Mad-TV. Unfortunately the deal fell through but a few months later executives at FOX called him into their offices and gave him $50,000 to create a pilot for what would eventually become "Family Guy" (1999). On September 11, 2001 he was scheduled to return to Los Angeles on American Airlines Flight 11 after being a keynote speaker at his alma-mater in Rhode Island. Due to a mix-up by his travel agent he was told that his flight was scheduled to depart at 8:15am but it really departed at 7:45am and he had arrived at Boston Logan Airport a few minutes after boarding was stopped on his flight and he was told he would have to wait for the next flight. At 8:45am one hour after the departure of American Airlines Flight 11 it was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into One World Trade Center (North Tower) in New York City killing all on-board. He was able to contact his parents within 20 minutes of Flight 11 striking the first tower to tell them he was okay. He said that he thanked his travel agent for screwing up the departure time or he would have been on board.

Seth Green Seth was raised in Overbrook Park by his parents; Herb, a math teacher, and Barbara, an artist. He attended public school and played soccer. Seth decided to make acting his career at age six after appearing in a summer camp performance of "Hello, Dolly
